The unprovoked aggression against a sovereign state, the systematic deportation of children, and the deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure are war crimes for which Putin bears direct responsibility — just as Nazi leaders were held accountable for their crimes after the Second World War.
The European Union’s determination to prosecute Putin deserves the full support of every civilized nation. Bulgaria should actively stand behind these efforts. If aggression goes unpunished, it will only encourage further aggression. And countries like Bulgaria could well be next in line.
The international rules-based order must be restored and vigorously defended. Those who violate it deserve fair justice.
