This is Syria all over again. Lebanon is being posed as a transformed state, that falls OUTSIDE the shia axis, as an independent legitimate government that Israel now has to negotiate with, and stop behaving like a rabid dog on its borders.

Israel under Netanyahu has just inherited the weakest structural position of any party of this "war", but does not yet recognize it. The narrative Netanyahu sold, that Israel destroyed Iran's nuclear program and military capacity, does not match the substance. Iran retains enrichment, retains its supreme leader, gains Hormuz monetization, and gains sanctions relief language. And unless Trump decides that a nuclear optics win is still required, the Israeli electorate will start asking what exactly was won, and Netanyahu's coalition will not survive that question. His optimal move in the short term is to reinflate a credible threat narrative by pivoting the war machine to Lebanon, where Hezbollah is the only remaining target on which a visible operational success can be claimed. He needs Lebanon for political survival. The ceasefire's exclusion of Lebanon was non-negotiable from his side. And all parties agreed to this. Including Iran.

the way this will end up is basically looking like it is going to be exactly what was already on the table during the Oman talks. Which means that the war was essentially a domestic purge operation, and a degradation of Israel, as well as a mechanism for US regional withdrawal. If a deal is reached, it signals that the pragmatists feel they have secured control.

There is a near-perfect correlation between US oil prices and US CPI inflation, as shown in our below analysis. As WTI crude surges above $112/barrel, we believe the US economy is bracing for 3.5%+ CPI inflation, particularly if current prices persist through April. Asset owners will be the only winners in the long-run.

@SimonDixonTwitt Do you think that the GCC will unpeg their currencies anytime soon? That would probably boost their currencies , Kuwait has the strongest currency in the world.

In my opinion gold is not ripping with oil because the market believes the strait will be open before the Xi & Trump meeting in May. Also countries defending the dollar peg on their currencies are selling US treasuries & gold until they remove their dollar pegs eventually. Gold is repatriating to Asia through Shanghai & Singapore though. I’m long term bullish Bitcoin & gold and continue to buy into weakness. Self custody is essential.

Inflation followed by demand destruction followed by recession. Even if the straight opened today. This is a global reset and Trump gave the military industrial complex, financial industrial complex and technical industrial complex everything they paid him for. And MAGA think he’s playing 5D chess for them. Smart when you know who he works for. Crazy if you think he works for Americans. The US is propped up by the Eurodollar, Petrodollar & Japan carry trade. They are all breaking. Get ready for the big prints. Socialize the losses. Privatize the gains. Transition the world to multipolarity. Next step. Jet fuel shortage followed by flight cancellations and strategic energy conservation policies globally.

@EvanWritesOnX absolutely and the AUD currency reflects this perfectly, it is heavily influenced by commodity price movements (selling product of the TPS) and by China geopolitics (buyer product of the TPS) literally a replica of the TPS business model

Australia was not established as a nation-building project. It was established as an extraction platform. The British did not colonize Australia to build a civilization. They colonized it to extract l; first convict labor, then wool, then gold, then minerals, then gas. The political architecture was built around that extraction logic from day one, and it has never been restructured away from it. You assume the state exists to serve the population, and therefore bad outcomes must mean the state is being run poorly. Australia is not a sovereign state that happens to have a mining sector. It is a private sector extraction platform that happens to have citizens. Every Australian who “owns” a home is servicing a debt instrument that enriches the FIC. The minerals get dug up by foreign-owned multinationals. The profits get distributed to global shareholders. The taxation office is structured; by design, through decades of lobbying, to ensure the extraction proceeds leave the country with minimal sovereign capture. The politicians are doing exactly what the structure requires of them: absorbing public anger, rotating every few years to reset the pressure valve. Australia is not mismanaged. Australia is managed perfectly, just not for Australians.
Simon Ree@simon_ree

Australia was handed one of the greatest starting positions of any country in history Massive mineral wealth. Abundant energy. World-class beaches. Amazing climate. No fault lines... no earthquakes or tsunamis If you gave a 12-year-old this setup in a civilisation-building game, they'd build a paradise Instead, we got decades of useless politicians on both sides of the aisle who couldn't run a sausage sizzle at Bunnings without a $4 billion feasibility study and a royal commission Australia isn't unlucky. It's grossly mismanaged

Just like it became safe — even edgy — for journalists to admit ISIS and al-Qaeda were CIA projects once the damage was done, in twenty years they’ll probably tell the truth about Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. By then it won’t matter…

@Geopolitics_AoE what link do you see between force majeure and de-dollarization? Re-negotiating the new contracts in different currencies? The force majeure has been re-directed a lot of supply to the US denominated in USD so far

@RedPillMuslim11 And that's no accident either. Everyone declaring force majeure should be th credible evidence that Trump needs to see to proceed with more dedollarization. Trump's agenda of US isolation requires dedollarization as much as possible while it retreats to the North Atlantic.
