A Secret Service plain-clothes officer spotted someone with a gun around 3:30 this afternoon not far from the White House, and a shootout ensued after officers confronted the suspect. “A juvenile bystander was hit by a bullet. The uniformed Secret Service officer shot the suspect near the Washington Monument.” “Secret Service notes the Vice President’s motorcade drove by that area a short time before the incident.” 
“The Deputy Secret Service Director says the agency will get to the bottom of whether this was a threat to the president or not.”

UNBELIEVABLE: The U.S. Supreme Court has RESTORED widespread access to the abortion pill mifepristone. In a temporary order issued Monday by Justice Samuel Alito, the Supreme Court blocked a recent 5th Circuit ruling that would have required the abortion pill mifepristone to be picked up in person only. This administrative stay temporarily restores the FDA’s broader access rules, allowing women to once again obtain mifepristone through telehealth prescriptions, by mail, and at pharmacies — while the justices consider the full emergency appeal. Evil!

JUST IN: A man was shot by U.S. Secret Service officers on the National Mall after they spotted a gun. Officers confronted the suspect, who then opened fire, reportedly hitting bystander. The suspect was hit by return fire and taken to the hospital. A weapon was recovered at the scene. The incident caused the White House to be briefly placed on lockdown. Secret Service Deputy Director Matt Quinn said that the motorcade of Vice President JD Vance transited through the area not long before the shooting, but there was no indication it was the target.
