When Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanzi declared that he will change from law enforcement to combat against peaceful protesters who were marching against load shedding and Phala Phala in 2023, the EFF called him out. We did so while still advocating that he must be the National Police Commissioner. Our position on that remains. The EFF is allergic to being populist and is honest even if it risks backlash. Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi just lacks emotional intelligence and restraint whenever anyone correctly or incorrectly identifies his shortcomings. I suspect that his latest insinuations against the CIC, are because the CIC said that Fadiel Adams was correct to submit the envelopes of classified information to SAPS once he received it, because what else must a person do when you get evidence of criminality? He has a big problem with Adams, and was likely irritated by that. That is what sparked his lashing out about a meeting with the President of the EFF that HE asked for through General Khan.
