Why spend more effort than needed?
We are willing to pay YOU to draw real art for us, and if you can’t/don’t want to draw it then say “no”

This is such a nonsensical and condescending response, and it's an artist shitting on the creative vision of someone, and acting like this is the GOOD way to handle things.
Also, leaking commission DMs to embarrass someone. No one should interact with artists like these, and this nonsense gives all artists a terrible reputation. And actually drives people to AI. Why wouldn't it?

Controversial topic: AI. I think most artists despise AI. This is pretty much clear. But we shouldn’t treat the people who USE AI like they are also slop. They might just be uneducated on how much trouble AI causes. Can we try something like this next time, artists?

If I need art - I pay for art. For example, I recently paid for music for a game. I pay for someone to do either what I need or something I don't yet know I need, that's usually how it goes. No, I dont use nor need AI reference, it's garbage to begin with. I can't know what's best when it comes to music, I can set the goal and constraints, but I pay other people because they know better than me. So I'd rather have a collection of references, a description and anything customer considers as vital for understanding, but not AI. When you replace design with generated output - you are shooting your own legs. You might not think you do, but that's the point - people usually don't know any better. Understanding your limitations and referring to professional help is what makes a good product in the end.

I got scammed by an ai artist on my reference sheet. I tried so hard taking it around vgen artists to make real art out of it but they all refused to help. Very sad. I find it nearly impossible to look around on google, deviant art, Pinterest, etc for references bc theyre all ai art.
I try just searching up a hairstyle to hand in as a reference and its denied. And I certainly lack the skills to draw what I envision myself.
I wish artists were more open to accepting people who are just using it as a reference (not generating it themselves but people who got scammed or found something on google randomly). And not punish the customers who are trying to pay for real art in a world that is drown out by ai.

totally agree with you there. it should only be as a helper tool and never heavily relied upon or exchanged for artist's art. I feel like it's artist's job to bring client's vision to life so they should be understanding of people bringing AI references to them and still try not to heavily reference it if that makes sense.
