Legendary #AthleticClub manager Fred Pentland died #OnThisDay in 1962, aged 78. Known as ‘El Bombín’ (The Bowler Hat), he was relatively unknown in the UK. In Bilbao, however, ‘Mister’ Pentland is an icon. A former prisoner of war, he is still Athletic’s most successful manager.
