@Aleczandxr Noted! I guess I hardly ever experience boring stories that aren't also either flawed or poorly executed, so it conflated in my mind
English

Well if you’re talking about just experiencing less than great media to make the great stand out, the bad or flawed but still entertaining stories are definitely better than boring ones for me, or ones outside of your comfort zone, or with great ideas but poor execution that are most exciting, etc. Less than good media is valuable for sure but it need not be boring
English

@Aleczandxr oh bet, could you elaborate please? my first thought was like— maybe experiencing different genres, but not entirely sure
English

@RedestShadow Nah there are plenty of ways to get contrast to appreciate the good stuff more and boring yourself is the worst way.

@dbzsenpai Hi! if there's still space I'd like to contribute Avalon! good luck with everyone's babes otherwise!

@SundownSoc @tableofenoch @MakiScaler seconding this. I think "depth = good" is specifically valid if you're just approaching a story from a scaling perspective, but it's not a rule of thumb for writing quality
English

@tableofenoch @MakiScaler Soft Magic system and Hard Magic to each have their own narrative function not that one is better than other.
But yeah, for Battle Manga if you going to indulges to battle analysis sure, the more depth might work better.
English

honestly after scaling jjk for 2 years i can safely say the power system is not as good as i thought when i started
Accelerator@Acceletor4882
Is it crazy to say Jjk has my favorite Power system in anime?
English

@scrimV1 @tableofenoch depends on who you ask and what they value. nen has depth but grasping or explaining it all can be difficult. I think my current favourite are the devils in CSM based on how simple and intuitive everything is, but I admit putting rules on magic is what made JJK fights so hype
English

@Kannas_Ricebowl Not defending frieren larpers but your interpretation of it is also kinda shallow. frieren is not a shonen or action focused and any fights always last 3 panels. extended in the anime. There's less fights than more, and they're just a vessel to show how people change people
English

Frieren fans acting like elitists and downplaying action heavy titles when in reality their show is effectively the same thing but with slower pacing is hilariously ironic...
Baby's first ever so slightly deep anime I guess...

Jjk fans when an anime isn't only mindless action and aura farming:
