As Hanukkah begins, we stand in solidarity with Jewish communities in Waterloo Region and around the world, particularly in light of the tragic events at Bondi Beach. May the Festival of Lights bring strength, hope, and peace.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the Jewish community locally and around the world following the tragic and senseless acts of violence during Hanukkah celebrations in Australia.   The Waterloo Regional Police Service stands with our entire community in condemning violence in all forms, and we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring safety and security during local celebrations.   We are working closely with faith leaders while taking enhanced proactive measures for planned Hanukkah celebrations across Waterloo Region.   Hate and violence have no place in our communities. If you see something suspicious, please report it immediately to 9-1-1. Together, we can keep our community safe.
