@daletanhardt My opinion the event doesnt end until the winner hoists the trophy. It was an absolute travesty when we get no post race coverage, Now that we get post race coverage back, but only a snippet of victory lane in a side by side or background prevents any & all emotional connection

@MambaSmith34 Aslong as the Racing is good. Green to checkers is fine. Don't get me wrong, carnage & accidents can be a nice spectacle. But if that's the sole reason to watch. Then that's the wrong "fan" to keep happy. We watch for the Race!

If you get rid of stages and races start going green to checkers because there’s less attrition then ever before people will lose interest. I’d rather stage cautions than mystery yellows for nothing or drivers throwing roll bar padding out the window.
Alexander@AlextheAdm1ral

@dennyhamlin @ericmyers_19 "4 hours of anything is too long" and "Stages are needed for TV" Are opposing statements. I don't agree, but if 4 hours IS too long, we save 20 minutes per race with the stroke of a pen if we ditch stages. Otherwise, you want to take more track time away from the paying fan

@STaranto92 2019 aswell. They handed him the championship at the end of the year. But he was a Major team player there for the 11, after J.D's passing. handing them the 500 on that final restart.

Kyle Busch will go down as arguably the greatest driver to have never won the Daytona 500. I have a special connection to that 2023 race, which was the closest he ever came to winning it. 2023 marked my first time reporting on location from the Daytona 500 as a member of the media. It also came three weeks after the passing of my Grandpa Taranto, who I was very close to. It was an emotional time for me on that front, and I had his prayer card up in the press box with me during the race and as things played out over the closing laps. I remember being up in my seat those final laps during the race between the RCR and RFK cars, thinking vividly that I was about to be a direct witness to something very special and one of those great moments in Daytona 500 history. It wasn't to be. (and that spin by the 99 didn't need to be a caution either. Come on.) I guess in retrospect it's of some comfort that Kyle was leading the Daytona 500 at Lap 200, but the record doesn't give him credit for that, nor others who have endured leading Lap 200 of the Daytona 500 but not winning the race. One year later during Media Day, I asked him about how frustrating that was when I put it in those terms. "Where does that rank on the pain scale?" "High." "Gotcha." "High, yeah. 'Cause I don't have the trophy or the ring, so it just means I coulda, shoulda, woulda if it was prior to 2005. So that sucks, but it is what it is. "I guess 2005, I knew the rules coming in anyways. That's when I first started in the Daytona 500 was 2005. It happens." The next year I went with a slightly different angle, asking if Daytona's repave in 2011 and the muting of variables like character in the track, handling, etc. had made the Daytona 500 a more difficult race to win. Kyle proceeded to give a very detailed and thorough answer about what it was like to race the old Daytona and drive through the bumps/beyond the limits of the tire, while also pointing out certain areas of the current Daytona that were becoming trouble spots. I listened to this back today as well as the followup I asked and I just love the exchange. It feels like I did my job asking Kyle informed questions and he obliged in giving informed answers.

This is also why I'm not a fan of the metric. Once we get proper race weekends again I'd like to set by practice speed, but until then, lineup by points was a really good way to do things. I remember Clint Bowyer got trapped in 15-20th no mans land by the metric in 2020
Hank Lee@hanklee89

So much talk about Bubba Wallace's struggles. I go back to him being spun at Watkins Glen -- They were going to get out with possibly a top 10. Instead, 29th. Then qualifying gets rained out two weeks in a row so they're trapped by the metric. The butterfly effect is real.

@dennyhamlin @AlextheAdm1ral Totally understand the TV money helps everything run, archaic as it is. But what other major sport directly stops play, burn time off the clock, for ads to run?

@BBNDi9 Yup. Without the rain / rain from last weekend as well, should have only been a footnote. Not THE story This is where nascar media can be a bit too narrow minded & lazy at finding stories. Just another area of improvement after the removal of playoffs.

“There was basically nothing to complain about during the race, so let’s create something to complain about by conveniently ignoring the rain delay and focusing on when the race ended”
Jordan Bianchi@Jordan_Bianchi

The issue isn't having Sunday night races -- I'm all for it and think it's a good thing to grow the sport, especially during the summer. The problem is that the Nashville race didn't end until after midnight on the east coast and that's a problem.

Hopefully we can bully them into a change because this is absurd. I don’t bet on any sports, but this feels like a blatant robbery to me…Unless someone in that world understands better, lol.
Aaron 🏁💰@RkyMtnBETS

🚨Update🚨 @FDSportsbook @FanDuel_Support is doubling down on not paying out Shane Van Gisbergen Top 5 from this past Sunday’s #NASCAR race. There is no such thing as podium presentations in NASCAR & there were no disqualifications & nor was SVG ever “officially” scored 7th, you literally graded the bets based on Prime incorrectly displaying the results for a brief moment. If you want to look at official results NASCAR officially scored him 5th & was listed in 5th on NASCARs official timing & scoring at the end of the race. DO THE RIGHT THING & pay out the wagers & while you’re at it please rewrite your house rules to better apply them to NASCAR.

@ChampagneRacin Hamlin is incredibly lucky to have always been in upper tier equipment Granted he still has to perform. & help build/ hold their performance levels. Harvick to me could finish better than a car is worth. Hamlin by now could but overall at a smaller gap to the cars speed
