Nolan and Universal really thought they could pull this off. They made a big show of skipping early influencer screenings, acting like they were above the usual hype machine. Turns out they just didn’t want anyone seeing it who couldn’t be controlled. Now they’re handing out early access to the usual suspects and paying them to spam the same generic “Epic!” and “Absolute cinema!” posts with the exact same theater photos. Ludwig, CouRage and the rest of the crew are all dropping the same low-effort hype with zero substance. It’s so obvious it’s embarrassing. They weren’t avoiding early screenings to protect the film — they were avoiding the people they couldn’t buy off. If your big prestige movie needs paid streamers and content creators to manufacture “organic” praise, maybe it’s not as good as they’re trying to sell it.
