Honoured to receive the best wishes of His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan on our Govt taking oath for the third consecutive term. I am grateful to him for his personal message of warmth and good luck.
Under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and His Majesty, the Indo-Bhutan relationship has touched new heights. I am certain Assam will play an important role in taking forward these civilisational ties and pushing the development of both Assam and Bhutan, which shall spur growth in the South East Asian region.

His name was Arif Mohammad Khan.
He was 36 years old. A Cabinet Minister in Rajiv Gandhi’s government.
In 1985, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Shah Bano, a 73-year-old Muslim woman from Indore who had been divorced after 43 years of marriage.
Her husband paid her a small sum under Muslim personal law and claimed his obligation was complete. The Supreme Court disagreed.
It said Section 125 of the Criminal Procedure Code applied to every Indian citizen, regardless of religion. Shah Bano was entitled to maintenance.
Arif Mohammad Khan stood up in Parliament and defended the judgment.
He said the law must protect every Indian woman without exception. It became one of the most powerful speeches heard in Parliament that decade.
Then the government reversed its position.
Facing pressure from orthodox religious leaders, Rajiv Gandhi’s government passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act, 1986. It effectively nullified the Supreme Court ruling. Shah Bano would no longer receive maintenance under Section 125.
Arif Mohammad Khan refused to support the bill.
He resigned from the Cabinet. His political career collapsed. He spent years out of power.
Shah Bano later withdrew her claim under community pressure. She died in 1992 without ever receiving her maintenance.
The principle overturned in 1986 was effectively restored decades later through later Supreme Court judgments, including the Triple Talaq verdict of 2017.
Thirty-one years later.
Arif Mohammad Khan would later become the Governor of Kerala.
He once said: “I did what my conscience told me. I have no regrets.”
His party called it a mistake. History did not.

I have realised over and over again that there is ZERO point in outraging over the self goals that @BJP4India ministries and state governments keep making over and over again. They will keep doing it anyway, always seeking validation from the same people who detest them. People like @vinodkapri will of course, sell their own grandmother for money.

Meet the world’s biggest political jinx (Panauti) Prakash Raj 😭
-In 2019, he himself contested the Lok Sabha election and managed to get only around 2% votes, even losing his deposit.
-In 2019, he campaigned for the Aam Aadmi Party and the party ended up losing all 7 seats.
-In 2019, he campaigned for Kanhaiya Kumar and Kanhaiya lost badly.
-In 2026, he campaigned for the LDF in Kerala, and the Left suffered one of its worst defeats ever in the state.
-In 2026, he campaigned for Stalin in Tamil Nadu, and Stalin ended up losing his own seat while the party also lost the election.
I don’t really have any sympathy for opposition parties, but if you want to save even a little of your political future, keep this Prakash Raj at least 100 feet away from your campaign 😹

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to reduce his convoy size shows humility and a desire for simplicity, which is admirable. However, in today’s security environment, this move raises genuine concerns.
The safety of our Prime Minister is not just a personal matter -it is a matter of national security. Any lapse can have serious consequences for the country’s stability.
I respectfully request PM @narendramodi to kindly reconsider and restore an adequate convoy size while keeping essential security as per SPG protocol.
India needs Modi ji strong, safe, and leading us for many more years. His security must never be compromised in the pursuit of symbolism. Nation First always includes protecting our leadership.
