@OuReNdOfDaYz @ExtremeFootbal4 I know where Oldham Road is. What were you expecting, demolishing all Miles Platting? The entire area is unrecognisable from 30 years ago. I'd say job done 👍🏻

@RefsJourney @ExtremeFootbal4 Yeah you kind of missed the point...... Oldham Rd is about 3mins in a car. The promise of the Commonwealth Games at the time was to transform the whole area of Manchester, which clearly didn't happen 👍

The top image shows the City of Manchester Stadium as it was in 2002, purpose-built to host the Commonwealth Games that summer. The venue was the centrepiece of the Games, staging the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the athletics events – a huge moment of pride for the city and a catalyst for regeneration in east Manchester. After the Games, the running track was removed, the pitch lowered and the stands extended to convert it into a football stadium. By 2003, it became Manchester City’s new home – what we now know as the Etihad Stadium.

@ExtremeFootbal4 Not quite. The running track was only temporary, the plan was always to remove it

@ExtremeFootbal4 The whole place was a fucking sham. Council put up miles of wooden fencing up Oldham Rd with exciting "Regeneration behind here!!" On them with pretty pics .......the fences were taken down and shit-all had been done. Where did all the money go?

@lewiswalkden Letting? There's no choice, and nit makes perfect sense. Just imagine Arteta if they got beat 0-1 in Kazakhstan on a pitch they hadn't ever touched till game time. He'd implode.

Chelsea and City cheated their way to the top of the football pyramid. The years of subterfuge and skullduggery helped them to subsequently win in years where deception wasn't judged or found. It all stinks. The PL isn't fit for purpose. Everton/Forest got points deductions.

@TheSecretScout_ Let's remember the officials get 1 look, in real time, from 1 angle and have to make a decsion instantly. First look, I thought pen. 2nd and third in slow motion from different angles, probably not

This is the controversial penalty given in the Fa youth cup game between Man City and Everton. It was 0-0 at the time

In every local football rivalry there is ambitious Club A, that exists to try and win trophies, and there's Club B that exists entirely to hate Club A.

FIFA are close to introducing Arsène Wenger’s proposed offside rule. Under the new rule, a player would only be offside if they have completely moved past the last defender. Marginal calls based on a shoulder, toe, or knee would be gone. The rule is set to be introduced as early as next season.

Fermin Lopez did this to Hall without being penalised A booking would have seen him suspended in the next game. 🤦‍♂️ x.com/kybarchived/st…

@RefsJourney @footballontnt @tntsports @discoveryplusUK I guess the good thing that makes it interesting is we both ref and disagree, and that’s absolutely fine it’s a game of opinions. This would split the room in a room full of refs I think, I would just be on the “penalty” side of the room.

@RefsJourney @footballontnt @tntsports @discoveryplusUK None at all, and if I’m lucky I’ll be level 4 next season as I’ve done all my observations etc It is a careless challenge, he makes contact with a player running at speed and knocks him off balance from behind. Any observer would accept that at my level as justified.

@Alexrose90 @footballontnt @tntsports @discoveryplusUK The 1 thing that gets me in this convo is an L5 ref is absolutely adamant that this is a nailed on, unrefutable pen. Thats the message I'm hearing Can you not see the argument against it? Are you 100% sure that there is no circumstance or interpretation where this isn't a pen?

@RefsJourney @footballontnt @tntsports @discoveryplusUK when a player skips around the GK and they get the TINIEST touch on the ball and then the GK clatters into the player and takes him out why are we told he got the ball first? Confirmed as well by VAR, where they slow it down and show the slight touch of the ball and justify it

@RefsJourney @footballontnt @tntsports @discoveryplusUK All that within 0.5 of a second. Madueke has a super fast brain to think “let me lift my left leg up and kick it away with my right, then go down”. 100% agree to disagree on this subjective one. Ref was mental on the night anyway, and their captain could’ve walked 4 mins in.

@Alexrose90 @footballontnt @tntsports @discoveryplusUK Ball contact has nothing to do with it being a foul or not. Appears nowhere in Law and is only used as an excuse. You’ve heard this 1000's of times... "I got the ball ref!" Contact/no contact isn't a consideration

@Alexrose90 @footballontnt @tntsports @discoveryplusUK Ok, last comment on this I promise! The lad feels contact in his left foot, then pulls his left foot up, kicks the ball away with his right and falls over Nothing, and I mean nothing, about any contact initiates that fall. It's 100% the player falling over trying to win the pen
