@VTHistory25 This reminds me of the debate when Tulsi was asked about the Civil War. Personally, I'd rather people understand their history almost as much as having a good policy.

I can't speak for anyone else, but as a Christian, I've never thought Trump was a Christian. As a Christian, I can also say that I was none too pleased with the actions of other more "presidential" self-proclaimed Christians like Bush, Biden, and whatever Obama claimed he was. If you are looking for that line, that was decades ago.

@Mark606238211 @grok @rachelmillward Uhuh... Look, I'd encourage you to look at the other sources I've been sending. For me, I believe that people can still support trans people and cis women, be it in the US or UK.

@Mark606238211 @grok @rachelmillward I like how, rather than read the article, your inclination is to have grok do the work for you, which is telling how you engage. You missed what the concerns are with the bill outlined in the article.

@Relihist @rachelmillward I think you need to speak to women. I'm pretty confident 99% of women don’t want men in their changing rooms. Normally, everywhere I’ve been has separate toilets and changing rooms. Maybe as a man you don’t care.

The golden statue of Trump at the Trump National Doral Miami golf resort is 100% a stupid idea, and evangelicals shouldn’t be connected to it. However, a stretch to call it idolatry and compare it to the golden calf in Exodus or Nebuchadnezzar's statue in Daniel 2.

@Mark606238211 @rachelmillward You seem to ignore when I've said I don't have all the answers. There are trans people/allies who are far more involved in this conversation than me. What I take exception w/ is how you seem to conflate trans ppl to those wishing to do harm, in turn leading to actual harmful laws

@Relihist @rachelmillward Can I ask why you think it's okay for men to go into women's private spaces? And do you think, as a man, it's your decision to say they can?

People can be who they want to be, and I’m always polite and respectful to those who treat me the same. I don’t know how many women have felt uncomfortable with men entering women’s changing rooms. There have been incidents of men entering women’s prisons to rape women, and women losing medals in sports due to physical advantages. None of these scenarios should ever happen, and I find it odd when men defend them.

@CrockerBrock @history_under I would disagree with it being cool, since it is a 'golden calf' that doesn't appear to so much be interested in memorializing a moment so much as it is revering Trump. To what you said about unmarked graves, it seems that is debated since thousands of children were never found

@Relihist @history_under Claims of unmarked graves never materialized, yet history is being rewritten. It's a sad day when statues come down if you value history. I hope this one ends up protected in a museum someday. It's dang cool.

Tear it down. Thankfully, this looks to be a small crowd of morons who need to spend a little more time in the Bible and little less time on Truth Social.

@Mark606238211 @rachelmillward Can you share the statistics of how often this happens? Of course, women should be able to feel safe wherever you go. What your argument seems to be is to attack another marginalized community.

@Relihist @rachelmillward There are very violent and devious men who would use this "I am a woman" tactic for their own gain. It places women at risk. Women have fought so hard for equality over the years, only for men to tell them that men can be women.

@CrockerBrock @history_under Speaking as a Catholic, it's not surprising when ppl push to have landmarks renamed to remove their public memorializing of problematic individuals. This doesn't change recognizing their role in history. Technically, future generations did decide, and they wanted the statues down

@Relihist @history_under In 2021, the discovery of radar anomalies at former residential schools led to widespread claims of unmarked mass graves. This sparked a period of civil unrest across Canada, resulting in the destruction of statues (like Macdonald & Ryerson) and a push to rename colonial

@Mark606238211 @rachelmillward Check the other post I made. I don't claim to have all answers. When I see ppl refer to "male maniacs," usually for them the line is blurred b/w anyone w/ nefarious intentions and those who genuinely are trans and are living their life. Be mindful with how you go about this topic

@CrockerBrock @history_under If people wish to memorialize a moment or uphold history, there are museums to do that. Yes, it is private property and so a person can put up what they'd like assuming it's not a danger to the public. I am curious what "reckonings" you're referring to exactly.

@CrockerBrock @history_under Most people aren't suggesting to erase history (I try and avoid absolutes). I assume the statues you're referring to were the Confederate statues, which ironically were put up to change the narrative of the south's position before/during/after the civil war.

@CrockerBrock @history_under By extension, suggesting this isn't an endorsement would seemingly need to disregard the scene surrounding its unveiling. If you do not wish for it to be compared to a golden calf, then this entire situation does not help the argument.

@CrockerBrock @history_under If you see people bowing and blessing a statue, that is more than just respecting the man. Your original comment was focused on the moment, not just the man. If this is the logic you're using, then you would be too on what their true intentions are.
