While I was in the room, a gunman tried to kill President Trump, cabinet members, and other elected officials in DC Saturday night. Despite this, I went to a public venue to have an honest dialogue with students who vehemently disagreed with me. My good-faith effort for civil discourse was met with shouts and name-calling. My side uses dialogue, the other side uses intimidation.

I wasn’t happy when Clinton, Obama or Biden won, but I didn’t call them fascist/dangerous/threat to democracy. I didn’t hope someone would assassinate them. I went on with my life with gratitude. Friends on the left, please try this. Your life and our country will be better.

I never said "Republican". And hasn't the Republican party been replaced by MAGA or America First? I'm a lifelong Republican and I consider my self politically homeless now. My whole argument is that the extreme right is just as dangerous (and historically, more so) than the extreme left. Any argument to the contrary is simply disingenuous or ignorant of history. There are virtually no peer-reviewed studies that conclude that the left is more violent than the right.
