If Chinese cars were allowed into America and the import ban was lifted so you didn't have to wait 20 years American auto makers would be forced to evolve. Kind of like how Harley Davison and import bikes taxation, which if that was removed they'd be fucked also. Harley learned in order to survive they had to advertise slow safe comfort and to the blue collar workers instead of fast and loud bikes which they knew they couldn't compete with for the same cost. Harley went from the rebellious brand to the choice bike for conforming retirees.

@POPUFUR The explanation is that it's cheaper for the US to ban imports than match the subsidies China has on their EVs. The only reason that Chinese cars are so "innovative"(gimmicky) are due to heavy subsidies from the CCP.

Lack of competition leads to stagnation and there's literally nothing from the American side that's mildly innovative lately. Just rehashed big names recycled into nothingness to feed on brand loyalty that works because of blind nationalism. I can't think of a single car, truck, or SUV that's been innovative or interesting lately..
