One of the joys of working at @NY1 is that we focus on local news, even when asking President @realDonaldTrump questions. Here's his reply to if his administration would release funding for the 2nd avenue subway in NYC- oh and as I told him, I'm older than I look 😂

Great joining Inside the Issues on Spectrum News 1 SoCal Inside the Issues this evening with Renee Eng (filling in for @amritsingh) to unpack a set of fast-moving developments at the intersection of AI, national security, and media. We covered three major fronts shaping the AI landscape right now: 1. National Security & AI Supply Chains The emerging tensions around Anthropic and the U.S. Department of Defense highlight a deeper issue: who controls access to frontier AI systems, and under what conditions? We covered policy, trust, assurance, and the role of private AI labs in national security infrastructure. 2. The AI Guardrails Act New legislative efforts signal that Washington is moving from principles to enforcement. The proposed guardrails raise important questions around accountability, testing, and operational transparency especially for systems deployed in sensitive environments like defense. 3. AI and the Future of Hollywood From comments by Steven Spielberg to broader industry reactions, we’re seeing a creative community grappling with what AI means for storytelling. “AI vs. humans” is what people are thinking on the surface, but it's more than that and more about how tools reshape the creative process just as CGI once did. My key takeaway: We’re entering a phase where AI is no longer just a technology story. It’s a governance story, a workforce story, and a cultural story. The challenge ahead is aligning innovation with trust, safety, and human values without slowing down progress. Appreciate the thoughtful conversation and the opportunity to share perspective on where this is all heading. @SpecNews1SoCal

Excited to have joined Inside the Issues on Spectrum News 1 SoCal with Renee Eng, filling in for Amrit Singh, to discuss the rapidly evolving intersection of AI, national security, and media. We explored key topics including: - The tensions between Anthropic and the Pentagon - The proposed AI Guardrails Act - Perspectives from Steven Spielberg that reflect broader shifts in Hollywood's approach to AI My takeaway is that AI has transcended being merely a technology story; it is now a governance, workforce, and cultural transformation unfolding in real time. @Renee_Eng @amritsingh @SpecNews1SoCal

"Nearly five years." Investigative journalism takes years and years. The investment is immense, and always worth it, and, in the era of "hot takes" and ephemeral "content," rigorously reported journalistic work is needed more than ever. We must keep supporting investigative journalism. From @mannyNYT, lead reporter of the blockbuster piece on Cesar Chavez ⤵️

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

A Los Angeles firefighter said in sworn testimony that he sounded the alarm about the inadequate mop-up of the Lachman fire — and was blown off by a captain — days before the embers reignited into the deadly Palisades fire. The firefighter, Scott Pike, testified last month in a lawsuit brought by Palisades fire victims against the city and the state. Pike said there were about five areas that were still smoking. A brief recap of some of the protests we are expecting, the guests attending, and the Democratic response - PLUS - how long will the speech go? We are hearing it could go much longer than last year's. Breaking it down with @Renee_Eng on @SpecNews1SoCal:
