The move comes as Entergy Arkansas is seeking approval to finance a 754MW natural gas-fired power plant in Jefferson Co with a rate increase, a process that was made available to utilities by a law passed earlier this year. The process is called a strategic investment rate rider.

SWEPCO's proposed 27.3% base rate increase includes a proposed annual $21.5 million system improvement plan rider, which is meant to "address the resiliency of the electricity grid."Without the rider, the proposal would raise residential rates by 20.2%. shorturl.at/zWeof
