A lot of people today debate whether tithing is still relevant, but Jesus Himself addressed it very clearly in Matthew 23:23. In this verse, Jesus wasn’t correcting the religious leaders for tithing. He was correcting them for missing the heart behind their obedience. In fact, He affirmed that tithing was right while also emphasizing the importance of walking in mercy, faith, and righteous judgment. Friend, God cares not only about what we do outwardly but also about the condition of our hearts. Our giving should flow from love, honor, and obedience to Him. — Rick Renner

You are the one who decides what you set your thoughts on. It’s up to you to maintain your focus on Jesus and the “things above” that He has waiting for you to enjoy. So today and every day, no matter what’s going on around you, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and your heart open to receive the victory and blessing He’s provided for you! — Rick Renner Want to go deeper? Is it hard for you to sacrifice your own finances? Have you ever thought, “maybe tithing was only a commandment for the people of the Old Testament”? This week, I want to direct you to sources of indisputable relevance to these questions: the New Testament and Jesus’ own words. I hope to show you not only the reason that tithing still applies but also the multitude of other ways believers are called to give. It is in those ways of giving after tithing that generosity truly begins. Don’t listen to pressure from people around you; God will guide your giving. Watch now and discover “What Jesus Said About… Giving.”

When we got our dog, I had this vision in mind: a loyal dog that would follow me around the house, sit by my chair, go to the office with me, and keep me company all day long. Well, that’s not exactly how it turned out. Precious decided very quickly that Denise was her person. She follows Denise from room to room, waits outside the door for her, and cries if she can’t see her. I’m just the guy who lives in the house! And yes — Denise absolutely spoils that dog. Do you have a pet that clearly picked a favorite in the family? — Rick Renner

Something happens in the realm of the Spirit when you rise up and begin to speak forth the Word of God. Nothing is more powerful than a word that comes first from God’s mouth and then from your mouth. You and God have come into agreement, and that agreement releases His mighty power into the situation at hand! — Rick Renner Want to go deeper? Betrayal cuts deep, whether it comes from a spouse, a friend, a pastor, or someone you trusted with your heart. No matter how painful the wound may be, you were never meant to carry it alone. There are some hurts in life that are simply bigger than us. That’s why we need God. We were created to live in relationship with Him and to lean on His strength when our own strength runs out. If forgiving feels impossible right now, know that you don’t have to do it by yourself. You can go to Jesus and simply pray, “Lord, help me forgive.” God is faithful to help us do what we could never do on our own. — Rick Renner

When you are certain of your right standing in Christ, it provides you with a foundation on which to stand. You have a certainty that when you pray, God hears you and will do as you have asked. This means you don’t need to feel sheepish or embarrassed when you come to Jesus’ throne of grace. You can come boldly to seek mercy in your time of need. — Rick Renner Want to go deeper? Bitterness has a way of holding people captive far longer than they ever imagined. God calls us to forgive, not because it excuses what happened, but because freedom is found on the other side of forgiveness. The beautiful thing is this: when we feel too weak to let go, God gives us the grace and strength to do what we could never do on our own. Friend, don’t carry yesterday’s wounds into tomorrow. Let God heal your heart and help you walk in freedom again. — Rick Renner To see the rest of this program, “Can God Heal Your Broken Heart?,” visit Renner.org or YouTube. You never know what one conversation can awaken in someone’s heart. As tears filled his eyes, James Roosevelt — the oldest son of President Franklin D. Roosevelt — began sharing memories with Dru Hammer of praying with his father during the presidential campaign and later in the Oval Office to thank God after the election. Then he said something unforgettable: “I have not thought about God in 50 years until you said that to me.” In that moment, Dru joined hands with him and prayed as he gave his life back to Jesus. Friend, no one is ever too far gone for God to reach. One moment in His presence can change everything. — Rick Renner To see the rest of this program, “Will God Equip You for His Calling?,” visit Renner.org or YouTube. There is something powerful about a life fully surrendered to the call of God. I’ll never forget the services we held in Riga and later in Moscow with Dru Hammer’s parents, Douglas and Donna Mobley. The lines for prayer seemed endless, but Douglas and Donna refused to stop until every person had been prayed for. Hour after hour, they ministered to people believing for miracles, and the hunger in the room was unforgettable. When God sends you, you stay faithful until the work is done. — Rick Renner To see the rest of this program, “How Do You Reach Powerful People?,” visit Renner.org or YouTube. What makes me laugh on a difficult day? I try not to have many difficult days. I’ve made a decision that I’m going to have a good day every day. The Bible tells us to count it all joy, and that’s a choice we make. On those days that feel a little tougher than usual, Denise and I will sit down and play Yahtzee together, and before long, I’m laughing and enjoying the moment. There’s something powerful about choosing joy, surrounding yourself with the right people, and not letting the weight of the day steal your peace. — Rick Renner

The Holy Spirit is urging us to become a wellspring of good words when we talk to and about others. Rather than have the putrefying effect that a gossiper has on his or her listeners, we must determine that our words build others up and leave them in a much-improved state of being! — Rick Renner Want to go deeper? Your words have the power to change a situation. The word “blessing” in the New Testament comes from two Greek words: “eu” (meaning “good, well, prosperous”) and “logos” (meaning “words”). When combined, it describes speaking good, uplifting, faith-filled words with the intention of imparting a blessing. That means a blessing isn’t just a thought — it has to be spoken. If it’s never verbalized, it’s never released. This is why, throughout Scripture, people laid hands on others and spoke blessings over them. Words carry power; they transfer something real. So instead of responding to negativity with more negativity, choose a different response. Fill your mouth with faith-filled words. Your words can shift an atmosphere, heal a relationship, and change the direction of a situation. — Rick Renner
