Jesus was not scourged by the Jews, but by the Romans, and Roman scourging had no limit on lashes. What Jesus endured was beyond human imagination. Isaiah 52:14 gives us a prophetic glimpse of that suffering: “His visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men.” He was beaten so severely that His appearance was altered beyond recognition. But this is the powerful truth we must never forget: It is by those stripes that we are healed. The brutality of His suffering reveals the greatness of His love and the power of the price He paid for your healing, your freedom, and your redemption. — Rick Renner To see the rest of this program, “How Did Romans Scourge Convicts?,” with Rick Renner, visit Renner.org or YouTube. Lies gain strength when they remain unspoken and unchallenged. The enemy prefers silence because silence allows falsehoods to grow unchecked. That is why the Bible emphasizes confession — speaking truth aloud. When truth is spoken, lies lose their grip. You were never meant to fight mental battles silently. God’s Word must be spoken, declared, and heard — by YOU. Truth spoken out loud has power. — Rick Renner Want to go deeper? Suggested Bible Reading: Romans 10:8-10; Hebrews 4:12; Revelation 12:11

Even in the moment of His arrest, Jesus was not powerless — He was overflowing with supernatural power. In the garden of Gethsemane, with just one word, He knocked back hundreds of soldiers, temple officers, and religious leaders. When Peter struck Malchus, Jesus immediately demonstrated miraculous power again by restoring his ear. Even in that very hour, resurrection power was being manifested. Jesus was never a helpless victim. He willingly surrendered Himself — not because He lacked power, but because He was fulfilling the will of the Father. What incredible strength and what incredible love. — Rick Renner

Thoughts are not neutral. Every thought is trying to take you somewhere. If a thought remains unchallenged, it will eventually influence decisions; decisions repeated over time become direction; and direction determines destination. That is why the Bible connects thinking with transformation. God does not begin by changing circumstances — He begins by changing perspective. If you don’t like the direction your life feels like it’s moving, it may be time to examine the thoughts that have been guiding you there. — Rick Renner Want to go deeper? “How can the Church help those going through trials?” Life can bring all kinds of burdens — sickness, loss, divorce, financial struggles, and relational conflicts, but Galatians 6:2 tells us to bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ. Just as Jesus carried the Cross for us, we are called to come alongside others and help shoulder their weight. Sometimes it just takes a kind word, a touch, or an expression that lets them know you care — even small acts can bring relief and hope. — Rick Renner

In the middle of the chaos of Jesus’ arrest, Peter acted impulsively. He grabbed a sword — a weapon he wasn’t fully skilled with — and struck, cutting off the right ear of Malchus, the high priest’s servant. But Jesus stepped in and said, “Suffer me thus far” — meaning, “Give me a moment to fix this.” Then, in a miraculous act of mercy, Jesus restored Malchus’s ear. Even in the messiest moments, Jesus brings healing and restoration. — Rick Renner

A stronghold is not built over night. It is formed gradually when a lie is believed long enough that it becomes established in the mind as though it were true. This is why the Bible speaks of strongholds in military terms. A stronghold can function like a prison — you can see freedom, understand what God’s Word says, and even desire change, yet still feel unable to reach it. At the same time, a stronghold can act like a fortress — when truth comes, it strikes the walls but cannot penetrate because the lie has been reinforced over time. It is important to understand that a person can sincerely love God, faithfully serve Him, be deeply committed to His Word, and still be bound in one area of thinking. A stronghold is not a sign of spiritual failure. It is a signal that an area of the mind has not yet been fully renewed. Strongholds are not dismantled by emotion or willpower alone. According to Scripture, they are pulled down through persistent, intentional exposure to truth. As the Word of God is believed, spoken, and applied consistently, lies lose their authority, and the mind begins to change. Freedom comes the same way bondage came — one thought at a time. That is why renewing the mind is not optional for the believer — it is essential. So let me ask you: How are you renewing your mind today? — Rick Renner Want to go deeper? The Bible tells us to stand against the “wiles” of the devil. That word matters, because it reveals how the enemy actually works. The devil is not creative. He does not invent new strategies. For thousands of years, he has used the same pattern over and over again. If you understand that pattern, you can recognize his activity and stop it before it goes any further. Every attack begins in the mind. Thoughts are the entry point. If the enemy can influence what you think, he can influence how you feel — and eventually how you live. That is why the Bible places such emphasis on guarding and renewing the mind. — Rick Renner Want to go deeper? Suggested Bible Reading: Ephesians 6:11; Romans 12:2; Proverbs 4:23

Hundreds of Roman soldiers arrived in the Garden of Gethsemane to arrest Jesus, armed, ready, and accompanied by brutal temple officers. They were over-prepared, because they believed Jesus had the power to stop an army — and they were right. When Jesus answered, “I am,” the power released by His declaration was so overwhelming that the soldiers staggered, wobbled, and fell to the ground. That moment reminds us of something powerful: Jesus was never overpowered — He willingly gave Himself up. — Rick Renner To see the rest of this program, “Why Did Judas Choose a Kiss?,” with Rick Renner, visit Renner.org or YouTube. Most of the time, people were the ones who needed Jesus — but on one particular night, Jesus needed the help of His friends. He asked them to pray with Him, yet every time He returned, they were asleep. Have you ever gone through a difficult moment and wished someone would stand with you, only to feel like you were facing it alone? That night, when Jesus needed support, God provided supernatural help. In the same way, if you feel like others haven’t been there for you, remember this: God has not abandoned you. Just as He strengthened Jesus, He will give you everything you need to make it through your toughest hour. — Rick Renner

The renewal of the mind is not optional for the believer — it is essential. When God’s Word changes the way you think, it changes what you believe; when what you believe changes, your expectations change; and when expectations change, life begins to shift. The mind will never remain neutral. If you do not choose what fills it, something will step in. That is why the Bible calls us to be deliberate, disciplined, and intentional with our thinking. Freedom is not accidental. It is cultivated — one thought at a time. — Rick Renner Want to go deeper? Suggested Bible Reading: Romans 12:2; Joshua 1:8; Colossians 3:16
