Veterans, family and friends will join elected officials to recognize the life and service of the late James Welcome during the monthly Honor a Deceased Veteran ceremony. James will be honored for service in both World War II and Korea during the ceremony at the county offices at 99 Troy Road in East Greenbush. The ceremony starts at 8:30 a.m.

It is envisioned the new organizational plan for committee meetings will go into effect for the committee meetings for the April meeting of the County Legislature.

“This marks a positive step forward in collaboration and open governance, as the County Legislature and County Executive have reached a mutual agreement to have department heads return to committee meetings. This renewed commitment to communication and transparency strengthens our decision-making process and better serve our community,” said Chairwoman Hoffman.

The new Spicer garage joins the county’s new Berlin satellite garage, which was opened in January. Work is ongoing at the new Brunswick satellite garage, which is the former home of the Rifenburg companies.

The county will open the Spicer garage during a ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday at the garage, located on County Route 105 (Spicer Road).

Rensselaer County will open a new Highway Department satellite garage in Hoosick on Friday, the latest improvement to the county’s ongoing efforts to improve road services, County Executive Steve McLaughlin announced.

"A quality system of roads and bridges is essential to the daily lives of those who live, work, travel and do business in our state. New York State needs to ensure road and bridge funding in 2026 is enough to complete the mission and keep travel safe and convenient for all," said McLaughlin.

Rensselaer County is notable for paving the entire 330-mile county road network at the direction of McLaughlin over the course of eight years. There is still much to improve local roads and bridges across the state.

A coalition of county, state and local leaders including County Executive Steve McLaughlin will call on New York State for adequate funding for road and bridge repairs and improvements at a press conference TODAY.
