I was expecting someone to notice, but I think I overcomplicated things. During the page where Kishibe talks about Public Safety, there's a side scene with two guys watching other kids play soccer. It's a bit of an homage to the Soviet film "Courier" (1986) directed by Karen Shakhnazarov. The film itself is actually very thematically close to Chainsaw Man, so I'd recommend watching it.

Reading comments like these makes me feel like I'll need to hold a Q&A at some point. Although it's more likely to be an attempt to change someone's perception than an explanation. I feel kinda stupid when, as an author, I have to bridge this gap between myself and the reader with meta-explanations. Perhaps it simply means I didn't write well enough. On the other hand, it's impossible to convince everyone. felt like complaining🙃
