When private equity owns your doctor, you pay MORE for WORSE care. Their priority is profit. @GovTinaKotek just signed into law the strongest protections against corporate profiteering in health care. Congress should follow and get private equity out of health care nationwide.

Big moment! Thank you @SenWarren for amplifying our work to halt the corporatization of healthcare. I completely agree–Congress should follow Oregon’s lead and protect independent medicine for all Americans.

Political violence is unacceptable. It has no place in our democracy. We are better than this. I hope former President Trump is safe and recovers fully.

Last week I spoke at the Oregon Student Association’s rally for higher education funding. Ballooning debt, workforce shortages, and the stagnating benefits of a college degree demand that we must do better for our students.

I was honored to be a guest judge at the Tualatin High School Timberwolf Pageant, a fundraising event for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The students worked incredibly hard for several weeks and raised nearly $10,000! Congratulations to all the participants and organizers!

Rep. Neron and I toured Just Compassion, a homelessness resource center that provides meals, beds, and a safe place to spend time. We look forward to seeing Just Compassion’s use of the recently passed HB 2001 housing package to help folks transition into safe, stable housing.

Rep. Neron and I had a great time speaking at the OIT Wilsonville campus about education. We discussed early learning through higher education and the workforce. We heard good questions about Oregon’s chronic underfunding of education and discussed some potential solutions.

We passed House Bill 2513 with broad bipartisan support to improve oversight, transparency, and accountability of the Measure 110 program. 58% of voters supported M110–but early implementation fell short of voters’ expectations. We need to make these improvements.

Last weekend I attended the Ways and Means Roadshow in Newport. The next day, I toured the Yaquina Bay with colleagues and folks from the Midwater Trawler’s Cooperative. It was such a valuable and educational experience for me. Thank you to Rep. David Gomberg for hosting!

My TikTok bill passed the House to the Senate! HB 3127 passed overwhelmingly with bipartisan support. The bill takes an important step in strengthening Oregon’s cybersecurity system and empowers the Chief Information Officer to protect state devices and sensitive information.

I spoke with Fox 12 Oregon about my bill to strengthen Oregon’s cybersecurity and data privacy. The bill prohibits certain applications (like TikTok) from being downloaded on state-owned devices, and empowers the Chief Information Officer to maintain a list of prohibited apps.

Thanks to the folks who came out to chat during my constituent coffee on Saturday. We spoke about a range of issues, including the impact of social media use on children, the kicker, early literacy, education funding, housing production, and more.

Last Thursday, I testified on HB 3456, a bill that I’m cosponsoring with Rep. Annessa Hartman and Rep. Hoa Nguyen, which would take important steps to reduce incidents of sexual assault and provide improved resources for survivors.

Last week we passed two bills to invest over $200 mil in affordable housing and homelessness prevention–both bills passed with bipartisan majorities. These investments will go to supporting local governments in building affordable housing for middle class and working families.

Great news: The Washington County Housing Authority is poised to purchase the Woodspring apartments from a private equity firm. Once this gets finalized (it is not a done deal yet), this will be great news for the seniors who have fought for their right to age in place.
