In less than one week, ICE has killed two people. Under this administration, there continues to be no accountability for ICE's rampant abuses of power. I’ve said it before: Trump's ICE must suspend operations until Congress requires it to follow the same rules and standards as every other law enforcement agency.

Springer Nature's decision last month to sell Scientific American and lay off staff—in the middle of their union election—is a tragedy for scientific journalism in the U.S. I grew up reading Scientific American. At 180 years old, it is the longest continuously published magazine in the country. I fully support their staff's fight to unionize and continue their crucial work, regardless of who owns the publication.

NEW: I am officially a cosponsor of the Block the Bombs Act.  I initially supported the Ceasefire Compliance Act, which would have withheld offensive weapons from the Israeli government if it refused to change course in the West Bank and Gaza. Netanyahu refused. With that in mind, I believe that unconditional restrictions on our arms transfers, like those included in the Block the Bombs Act, are now necessary.  The United States simply cannot continue sending unconditional military aid to the Israeli government. We must work toward a two-state solution that ensures peace, security, and self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians.

Trump promised peace on the campaign trail. Instead, he dragged us into a war that Congress voted to stop and the American people do not want. Now he's calling his own ceasefire "over." More strikes will endanger our troops and bring more economic pain to Americans here at home. Diplomacy is the only responsible path forward.

The Constitution is abundantly clear: if you are born in the United States, you are an American citizen. I'm glad to see the Supreme Court reaffirm this today.
