When I first introduced the PrEPAssistance Program Act in 2019, I didn’t do it thinking I’d be called a “Champion” on this issue. I did it because it was the right thing to do. Thankfully, parts of the bill have been incorporated into other funding bills, which have contributed to a significant increase in access, and in 2024, almost 600,000 people were taking PrEP – a 17% increase from the year before.
The work is not finished. Only about 13% of African Americans and 24% of Latinos in the U.S. who could benefit, have access to PrEP. I’m proud to keep up the fight until we’ve put an end to HIV/AIDS once and for all.

As a cancer survivor myself, I would not be here today were it not for early detection. Susie Wiles and I have access to great health coverage that allows for early detection. When it comes to our health, EVERY American deserves the best.

Last week, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks. I am grateful to have an outstanding team of doctors who detected the cancer early and are guiding my care, and I am encouraged by a very good prognosis. I am also deeply thankful for the support and encouragement of President Trump as I undergo treatment and continue serving in my role as White House Chief of Staff.

Gil Lugossi and my father, John served as Freeholders together and had a deep mutual respect for each other.
Gil was dedicated to his family and community. He was everything a public servant should be.
He will be missed.
