3 ICE involved deaths in a week. Stephen Miller, Sec Mullin, and the Trump Administration have turned ICE and DHS into a source of fear for communities across the country. Last year some regrettable cost cutting decisions were made about foodborne pathogen testing, ending 28 years of screening for cyclosporiasis and quickly catching and quenching several outbreaks. Now we still have no idea what the source of this outbreak is. This is the price!!!

Instead of doing anything to help Americans get by, House Republicans met in secret and are are perverting the congressional budget process to jam through a fiscally irresponsible and widely unpopular policy agenda. They want to loot your children's futures to fund the same endless foreign wars that reward defense contractors. Republicans’ budgets have stripped Americans of health care, food (and food safety), and security to fund tax cuts for billionaires and violent mass deportation operations in our neighborhoods. Now they're at it again. As a member of the @HouseBudgetDems, I'm working with my Democratic colleagues to stop this insanity.

A win for our community! Thanks to the organizers who continue to fight for our immigrant neighbors, the Trump Administration was pushed to extend work permits. We know that ending TPS would rob our economy of more than $30B in contributions from TPS holders and put 1.3 million people at risk of deportation. But we know we can't trust executive actions. Congress must act now to protect our neighbors. We must secure a pathway to citizenship for ALL.

ICE confirmed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was not the target. Yet he was killed by federal agents in an unmarked vehicle, with no body cam footage, no dash cam footage, and no answers for his family. ICE owes this family the truth.

The companies the Trump and Lutnick families invest in seem to somehow immediately find their way into major federal contracts. They now have financial ties to at least 14 mining companies seeking or receiving more than $8.9 billion in federal support. Happening before our eyes is insider trading to a degree we have never before experienced as Americans. Our tax dollars are being stolen to profit the richest and the greediest.

The Election Assistance Commission is a bipartisan effort to help states and local communities ensure safe and secure elections. Why would Trump fire the entire commission, incapacitating it months before the midterms? The House and Senate should immediately investigate.

Extreme heat is a threat to everyone, especially outside workers which is why I also introduced the Worker Rights and Support Act, which would require employees be offered a 30-minute meal break for each six hour work period, given a 10-minute break for every four hours worked to use the restroom, and provided 20-minute breaks for medical conditions. Our country needs a plan to address this growing problem. On average, the US experiences 12,000 heat-related deaths each year. The waves of extreme heat we've been experiencing will become more frequent due to climate change. That's why I introduced the Stay Cool Act, a package of proposals for addressing the increased threat of heat emergencies by improving how we study, react to, and mitigate extreme heat.

The signers of the Declaration of Independence may not have considered the interest of women or people of color when founding this great nation, but they made it possible for us to build a more perfect union that expands the meaning of liberty and equality to all God’s children.

As we commemorate this milestone, we have a responsibility to reflect on where we have been as a people and what we hope to pass on to future generations of Americans. We also have an obligation to protect the freedom, opportunity, equality, and decency afforded to all Americans.

I had the privilege of joining my fellow America250 Commission members at Independence Hall in Philadelphia today as we mark our nation’s birthday. It was on this date, 250 years ago that the Second Continental Congress voted to declare our 13 colonies legally independent.

Today marks the start of a dangerous heat wave in New Jersey as temperatures are expected to hit over 100° in many areas. An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued in all 21 counties. Please limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, keep your pets indoors, and call 2-1-1 to find local cooling centers.

Are we so callous as to believe that when we provide intelligence, provide coordination, and green light strikes that our responsibility ends there? We are not bystanders to the ongoing horror that is the war on Lebanon. This Congress took bipartisan measures to let an ally commit genocide on the Palestinian people in Gaza, with our bombs, our intelligence, our tax dollars. We cannot feign ignorance here. Not again.

This Supreme Court decision is a win for the wealthy few and special interest groups that will dramatically diminish the voices of everyday voters across the country. Work needs to be done to make campaign finance laws more fair and address the issue of dark money in politics. Instead, this ruling will only open the door for more corruption and allow billionaires to have even more influence over our elections.

My heart breaks for trans children and their families. Today’s appalling Supreme Court decision comes just one year after they upheld laws banning gender-affirming care and is just the most recent of a laundry list of attacks by conservatives against the queer community. A person’s gender should not bar their participation in the activities they love.

Huge news out of the U.S. Supreme Court this morning. The Court—including Justices appointed by President Trump—Have struck down his flagrantly illegal Birthright Citizenship Order. We stood up for our residents. We stood up for the rule of law. And we won.
