The Field Museum is a leader in scientific research and environmental conservation. I joined the staff and Julian Siggers, the Field Museum’s president and CEO, for a tour and discussion to learn about their groundbreaking research and the importance of communicating science to the public.

I was so proud to honor Maclane Zich, the winner of the Congressional App Challenge for the 6th District. His app, HeadacheWise, is a tracking and analytics app focused on improving and tracking headache relief.

Earlier this month, I joined Lyons Township and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago for a discussion about flood mitigation and wastewater management. I heard about infrastructure updates and how local elected officials, public works staff, labor leaders and residents are working together to address flooding and stormwater challenges.

I recently visited SEASPAR programs at the Lisle Park District and Darien Sportsplex. I learned about SEASPAR’s programming and toured the Wonders Multi-Sensory Room, which contains multisensory technology to help participants with autism, sensory processing disorders, and ADHD. I also enjoyed playing trivia with participants in their EAGLES Program!

Metropolitan Family Services serves over 200,000 families in Chicagoland every year. I toured their Southwest Center in Palos Hills, which focuses on economic stability, education, emotional wellness, and empowerment.

This Earth Day, I’m committed to working on behalf of the American people to lower energy bills, crack down on price gouging, and reinstate energy improvements reversed by this harmful administration so we can reduce pollution and have a very happy Earth Day next year.

The WIC Program provides nutrition resources, referrals to medical care, and food benefits at no-cost to eligible pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding families in DuPage County. I recently toured and met with staff at the DuPage County Health Department to learn about the important resources they can provide to families in our community.
