I pushed to pass this a month ago. Instead, House leadership played games — risking paychecks for FEMA, Coast Guard, and TSA workers and slowing travel across the country. Today, they passed the SAME bipartisan deal. I’m glad it’s done, but it took too long.

My statement after voting to pass today's Farm Bill: Kansas farmers and families have been hit over and over again this past year — from unstable markets to rising input costs and the ripple effects of reckless tariffs. What they need most right now is stability, not uncertainty. This bipartisan Farm Bill moves us toward more predictability for producers, lower costs for everyone, and a system that actually works for the people feeding and fueling this country. We still have work to do to ensure no family goes hungry, but this is a step toward giving farmers and families the certainty they deserve.

There’s a serious problem in our Social Security system: seniors and people with disabilities can actually lose SSI benefits just for getting basic help from family, like housing or food. That means people who are already struggling can see their benefits reduced or cut off, not because their situation improved, but because they’re relying on people close to them to get by. That’s backwards. That’s why I introduced the SSI Savings and Efficiency Act with @RepMGS. It fixes this issue by making sure basic support from family doesn’t count against someone’s SSI benefits. If your family helps you keep a roof over your head or food on the table, you shouldn’t be penalized for it. propublica.org/article/trump-…
