My office is in contact with the Warner family and pressing for their immediate release. Tania has a work permit and is part of the fabric of our Kingsville community; she nor her daughter Ayla, a 7-year-old with autism, should be in detention. We must bring them home and reunite yet another family being ripped apart by this Administration’s rogue immigration enforcement operations. theguardian.com/us-news/2026/m…

This week, #TeamGonzalez, had the pleasure to welcome @stcjaguars to our D.C. office to discuss strengthening opportunities for students in the Rio Grande Valley, including college affordability, Pell Grants and workforce training programs. Investing in education is investing in our future. Rest assured that I remain steadfast in my commitment to securing increased resources for students in South Texas.

Juan Chavez Velasco is a contributing member of our Weslaco community. After enrolling in DACA, he earned two college degrees and worked on the frontlines of the Covid pandemic. He should be with his family and newborn baby right now, not held up in a South Texas ICE detention center. My office is working on his behalf to do everything we can to bring him home and expedite his DACA renewal that expired while unjustly in DHS custody. ms.now/news/ice-detai…

While there appears to be no meaningful plan or strategy in sight to end U.S. involvement in Iran, families across the nation are experiencing an average increase of nearly 80 cents a gallon on gas prices. This is affecting many South Texans who depend on their car for their livelihood, including Nathan, mobile small business owner, who now has to pay $74.50 per tank instead of $50. krgv.com/news/edinburg-…

Federal immigration enforcement officers have forcibly entered homes in South Texas and across the US without a signed judicial warrant. Congress must pass my bill to codify these protections and put an end to rogue warrantless operations. More from @Newsweek: newsweek.com/ice-could-be-b…

Warrantless immigration raids are setting a dangerous, unconstitutional precedent in this country—not just for immigrant families, but for every American family.   Today, I introduced a bill that will codify Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches and seizures. I refuse to let South Texans live in fear because rogue immigration operations are indiscriminately targeting our communities.

From a small one-room building to a full municipal complex, #TeamGonzalez joined the @CityOfPrimera for the ribbon cutting of the new Sergeant Major William “Pat” Patterson Primera Municipal Complex. This new facility will house City Hall, the Primera Police Department, Primera Fire Department, and municipal public works offices, bringing essential services together under one roof. It’s incredible to witness the exponential growth of Primera, and I remain committed to supporting our community with the resources it needs to continue building!

This Administration promised to “rapidly bring down costs” on day one. We're now over a year into this term and families in South Texas are spending more on groceries! Congress must work together to stop reckless tariff policies that are placing financial strain and market uncertainty on our families, farmers, and businesses.

The South Texas water crisis requires immediate, urgent action, which is why I am pushing Congress for federal support to upgrade Coastal Bend infrastructure and implement solutions like desalination.. As noted by a Rice University researcher, " Water shortages can adversely affect public health, community stability, and pose a direct risk to jobs, as many industries that anchor local employment depend on reliable water access. Uncertainty can delay investment, limit expansion, and push employers to look elsewhere ." caller.com/story/opinion/…

Health care shouldn't break the bank, yet too many in our region are losing access to doctors and lifesaving medications because of skyrocketing insurance premiums. The House did its part in December by passing legislation to extend ACA tax credits for three more years. It's past time the Senate stop dragging its feet and do the right thing for millions of Americans.

Owning a home has always been considered part of the American dream, but it remains out of reach for far too many South Texas families. My bipartisan bill , the MORE Opportunities for Homeownership Act, would fix this. By providing credit unions the same flexibilities as small banks and saving institutions to provide loans, we can ensure families are able to afford a place to call home. financialregnews.com/legislation-to…

Instead of this Administration working to lower prices for our families, they initiated a war with Iran that has already cost American lives and increased prices at the pump. We should be focused on making life more affordable, not entangling ourselves deeper into conflict. Any further military intervention must have congressional authorization.

I’m relieved the Gámez-Cuéllar family has been released from DHS custody and is on their way home. South Texans mobilized quickly and proved that change is within reach as long as we make our voices heard. But let’s not forget that this family followed the law and did everything it asked of them. They should have never been detained in the first place, and their situation speaks to the grave injustices this Administration is inflicting on families in South Texas and across the country. Our families are not props for when it’s convenient; if these children were good enough to perform at the U.S. Capitol last year, then they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect in the eyes of the law.

The Gámez-Cuéllar family complied with the law, yet were still detained by this Administration. If just eight months ago, at the invitation of their Congresswoman, these children were deemed safe enough to travel with McAllen High’s Mariachi Oro to the US Capitol, then they are clearly safe enough to be part of our communities. Release this family now.
