I was fortunate to have my family with me as I was sworn-in to represent the 105th District in the #PaHouse this week! My top priorities are paid sick leave, education, protecting fundamental rights, increasing the minimum wage and expanding access to life-saving medication.

I had a wonderful meeting with area volunteers for Meals on Wheels today! They provide daily meals for about 40 people in our community. They’re currently looking for volunteers, contact the Dauphin County Area Agency on Aging for more information: 717-780-6130

It was great to see my optometrists, Dr. Smith and Dr. Saracino, who came to the Capitol to advocate for early eye screenings for children. I support this because children with academic and behavioral issues are often misdiagnosed when the real issue is untreated poor eyesight.

Congratulations to the Central Dauphin High School boys basketball team on winning the PIAA 6A state championship by defeating Imhotep Charter 52–49! It was a pleasure hosting them at the Capitol to celebrate this amazing achievement.

I was thrilled to present a citation to the PIAA 4A District III Champion @stsdschools girls basketball team at the most recent school board meeting. Their amazing achievement was 45 years in the making!

We had the next generation of leaders at the Capitol last week! abc27.com/local-news/har… The YMCA’s Model Convention brought delegates from across the state to the Capitol. Students taking part in the YMCA’s Youth and Government Program spend all year preparing for their roles.

I was a wonderful time helping pack bags at NutriPacks, which is a direct food distribution program for students in the Central Dauphin School District who are food insecure.

I also attended Susquehanna Township Alumni Association’s super fun Candy Scramble! It was a joy to count down the festivities for our younger egg hunters

I had an amazing time at the Penbrook Easter Egg Hunt last week. Thanks to the Penbrook Lions Club and Leos for putting on another amazing event!

It was a great opportunity to connect with students and discuss local government!

Last week, I visited five history and government classes at Bishop McDevitt HS to discuss my role as a state representative and how to advocate for policies they support. Rep. Nate Davidson and I also visited students at Harrisburg SD to discuss career pathways in government.

Congratulations to CWS Harrisburg on their 4th anniversary celebration! In that time, they resettled 1,200 refugees to Central Pennsylvania. Hearing the stories of refugees was a strong reminder about America’s promise as a beacon of hope for others across the globe.

The bill also raises the minimum wage for tipped employees from the current $2.83 per hour to 60 percent of the hourly minimum, or $6.60, in 2027. People should be able to afford basic necessities, and the current rate isn't cutting it with rising costs. 🧵2/2

I was proud to support a bill that would institute a long overdue hike in PA’s minimum wage. Yesterday, HB 2189 passed the House and now heads to the Senate. It would raise the statewide minimum wage- which has languished at $7.25 since 2009- to $15 by 2029. 🧵1/2

It was amazing to see the progress of @psp_academy new facilities being built & learn more about the kind of training that cadets go through. I’m confident that our future & safety is in good hands!

Fortunately, this problem is solvable and Pennsylvania is already making investments in reading proficiency. Children have a right to a quality education, and I will continue to fight for the educational progress children deserve.

Reading is the building block for everything we learn in life. If children have difficulty reading they will struggle solving word problems in math, struggle understanding history, science and social studies.
