This summer, I’m encouraging students across Florida’s 7th District to pick up a book and join the Mills Summer Story Quest! Elementary and middle school students who read and log at least 5 books over summer break will receive a Congressional Certificate of Recognition and a free book from the Library of Congress Surplus Books Program. The top 3 students who read the most grade-level books will also receive a special recognition award from my office. Summer is the perfect time to grow your imagination, strengthen your skills, and discover a love of learning. I hope students across FL-07 will join the challenge and make reading part of their summer adventure!

As hurricane season begins, preparation is key for families across Florida’s 7th District. Now is the time to review your emergency plans, build or restock your supply kits, and stay informed through official weather and emergency management updates. Every household should have: • A family communication and evacuation plan • Emergency supplies to last 3–7 days • Important documents secured in waterproof containers • Backup chargers, medications, food, and water ready to go Residents should also take steps to secure their homes by reinforcing windows and doors, clearing gutters, and reviewing insurance coverage before storms develop. Grateful to hear President Trump is safe after the shooting near the White House this evening. Thank you to the brave Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers who acted immediately to protect lives. There is no place in America for political violence, and every leader should be condemning it unequivocally.

This week, I introduced the PETS Act, legislation to strengthen Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) compliance for veterinarians and improve oversight of controlled substance dispensing. This bill ensures consistent reporting standards, strengthens accountability, and closes gaps in the system that can be exploited. We’re also expanding reporting on non-fatal overdoses so we can better track trends and improve prevention efforts. Public safety and responsible prescribing go hand in hand.

This week, I joined my colleagues in voting for the Sharri Briley and Eric Edmundson Veterans Benefits Expansion Act of 2026 to deliver real support for veterans and military families nationwide. This bill increases compensation for over 500,000 surviving military families by 5% over five years, provides an additional $10,000 annually for severely disabled veterans who need in-home care, and expands access to VA home loans for eligible Guard and Reserve members. FL-07 is home to thousands of veterans and military families, and they deserve more than promises— they deserve action. This legislation helps ensure those who served our nation, and the families who stood beside them, get the support they’ve earned.

Our office was proud to attend the Volusia and Flagler Counties Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony to honor the courageous officers who gave their lives in service to their communities. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and their dedication to protecting the people of Florida serves as an enduring example of courage, duty, and selflessness. I remain an unwavering support for the men and women in law enforcement and will always stand with those who put on the badge to keep our communities safe🇺🇸

Too many schools act like they should have more authority over a child than their own parents, that’s not acceptable. That’s why I voted in favor of the Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act because parents must be included in major decisions about their children in public schools receiving federal funds. Parents, not activists or administrators, should be the primary decision-makers in a child’s life. This is about transparency, accountability, and putting families back in charge where they belong.

My office had the privilege of attending the Seminole County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We will never forget the heroes who gave their lives protecting Florida’s 7th District, and we stand with the families, friends, and fellow officers who continue to carry their legacy forward. I will always Back the Blue and fight to ensure our law enforcement officers have the support, resources, and respect they deserve.

Early detection of Alzheimer’s and related dementias saves families precious time together. That’s why I’m proud to co-sponsor the ASAP Act, a bipartisan bill expanding Medicare coverage for blood-based and other validated early detection tests. In Florida’s 7th District, we see firsthand how deeply Alzheimer’s impacts families and caregivers. This bill helps ensure seniors get answers sooner, when it matters most. It’s always an honor to support commonsense solutions that improve care, planning, and quality of life for our seniors.

Today, I had a productive meeting with the Mayor of Ponce Inlet, the Mayor Daytona Beach Shores, the Mayor of Winter Springs, and the Mayor of St. Augustine Beach to discuss the needs of Florida’s 7th District. We focused on one of the most pressing challenges facing our coastal and inland communities and the importance of advancing common-sense, locally driven solutions to better protect homes, infrastructure, and public safety. I appreciate these local leaders for their commitment to serving their communities and for working collaboratively to address real-world problems affecting families across our district.

Today, I voted in favor of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act to help expand the housing supply, cut red tape, and modernize outdated federal housing programs. This legislation removes unnecessary regulatory barriers that slow construction, strengthens local lending capacity, and helps bring more affordable homes to market for American families who are being priced out. This is about increasing supply and reducing costs so constituents in our community can achieve the dream of homeownership.

For too long, weak immigration policies have put American workers, communities, and national security last. That’s why I’m proud to co-sponsor the ASSIMILATION Act to restore merit, accountability, and common sense to our immigration system. This legislation strengthens border security, ends chain migration and the Diversity Visa Lottery, mandates E-Verify, reforms asylum standards, and ensures citizenship is earned through loyalty to the United States and commitment to the American way of life. Coming to this country is a privilege, and our immigration system should always serve the interests of the American people first.

I applaud President Trump and SecWar Hegseth for their decisive action alongside Nigeria to eliminate Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, ISIS’s global second-in-command and one of the world’s most dangerous terrorists. There can be no safe haven for those who target American lives, murder Christians, and spread terror across the globe. This is peace through strength and leadership that's willing to act. I’m proud to have voted for legislation that fully funds veterans’ health care and benefits while supporting the men and women who served our nation. The House passed its first bipartisan appropriations bill of the year, which also invests more than $2 billion in improvements for VA medical facilities and national cemeteries, supports critical research for veterans, maintains access to specialty services, and strengthens military construction projects that support our servicemembers and their families. Taking care of our veterans and military communities should always be a priority.

I’m proud to announce that I have introduced new legislation that would establish nationwide concealed carry reciprocity for qualified active duty servicemembers. Our men and women in uniform are highly trained and trusted to defend our nation, so why should they face inconsistent laws when it comes to protecting themselves at home? This bill ensures those who serve are treated with the same standard as law enforcement. In Congress, I promise to continue fighting for our servicemember’s rights while they put their lives on the line to protect our nation.

I’m proud to have joined House Republicans in passing the Cashless Bail Reporting Act to expose jurisdictions that quickly release violent offenders based on irresponsible cashless bail policies while they await trial. Families across Florida’s 7th District deserve to know if soft-on-crime policies in their communities, or places they travel, are putting dangerous criminals back on the streets before trial. I’ll always stand with law enforcement, victims, and the safety of our communities over reckless policies that put criminals first.

I’m honored to have received the 2025 Taxpayers’ Friend Award from the National Taxpayers Union. With a 91% voting score, I remain committed to fighting for lower taxes, fiscal responsibility, limited government, and economic freedom for hardworking FL-07 constituents.
