On Memorial Day, we remember our country’s bravest. We must intentionally reflect on what it means to be a true Patriot, and living out a calling greater than ourselves. We owe our fallen heroes a debt that we can never repay - today and every day, we thank and honor them.

Four years ago, 19 fourth graders and 2 teachers in Uvalde were ripped from their families in a horrific act of gun violence. Today we honor their memories & vow to continue fighting for an end to gun violence. The weapons I carried in combat have no place in our classrooms.

Incredibly meaningful night at the Ulster County Veterans Service Agency’s Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil last night, honoring the brave men and women we’ve lost in service to our country.

This legislation will lower the crushing housing costs across our community, make it easier to build, and crack down on the private equity firms buying up homes. I’ll keep fighting like hell to bring down costs for your family and for mine.

I hear it from folks every day – costs, especially housing costs – are still way too high. My ‘Housing Affordability Agenda’ was part of the first legislation I introduced this Congress to bring down costs and cut through red tape, and I’m proud to see those priorities advance.

Today we’re marking up a *BIG DEAL* bill in the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. From rail safety to affordable housing, I’ve been pushing all year to get our Hudson Valley priorities included – might be a late night, but we’re getting this done!

Grateful to join colleagues & fellow vets from both parties to pay our respects to the fallen by washing the Vietnam Memorial wall. As we begin Memorial Day Weekend, let us come together as Patriots to honor those heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation.

I want to sincerely thank Officer Murray for his decades of service to our community, our state, and our country. My heart is with his friends, family, and the entire Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

Officer Joseph Murray was a hero. A 33 year veteran of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, he bravely helped with recovery efforts after the 9/11 terror attacks. It was a true honor to welcome his family to DC, to recognize Officer Murray’s service to our country & community.
