The Public Service Commission just kicked the can down the road on NYSEG’s latest rate hike, and in the meantime they’re telling Upstate New Yorkers to pay $50 million MORE. Bureaucrats in Albany don’t need another six months to understand what’s obvious to everyone else: the rates are too damn high, and Upstate New Yorkers can’t afford it. Folks need relief NOW, and I’m going to keep fighting with everything I’ve got to deliver.

A gallon of gas in Binghamton today costs more than $4.60, and prices keep going up. Upstate New Yorkers need relief. That's why I’m thrilled my bipartisan bill to lower prices at the pump just passed the House. By cutting arbitrary regulations to allow year-round sale of E15, we’re helping save folks upwards of 40 cents on the gallon. It's good for your budget, good for our farmers, and good for American energy independence.

For 33 years, Correction Officer Joseph Murray protected Ulster County with courage and dedication. After September 11, he continued answering the call, serving on the Critical Incident Stress Management Team in New York City when his country needed him most. Years later, he passed away from illnesses linked to that assignment. I was proud to honor his life and legacy with a Congressional resolution because, in Upstate New York, we stand by our heroes—and we never forget those who gave everything.

Working families and small businesses across Upstate New York are already stretched thin, and organized retail crime is driving up costs even more. That’s why I helped lead bipartisan action to crack down on these criminal networks, strengthen law enforcement’s ability to stop them, and protect our communities from paying the price.

Tractor rollovers are one of the leading causes of death on American farms, and too many Upstate New York families know the cost of that danger firsthand. We have a proven way to prevent these tragedies: rollover protection systems save lives. But too often, farmers can’t afford the equipment they need. That’s why I fought to renew federal funding for the National ROPS Rebate Program—helping more farmers stay safe, protect their livelihoods, and keep feeding our communities.

This National Police Week, I salute the brave law enforcement officers across Upstate New York who have dedicated their lives and careers to keeping our families safe. In Congress, I helped secure $30 million to equip rural police departments with lifesaving bulletproof vests, led legislation to combat fentanyl smuggling, and pushed to recognize the work our law enforcement officers do day in and day out. I’ll always fight to make sure our police get the support they need - and the respect they deserve - to stay safe on the job and continue serving our communities with courage, integrity, and compassion.

In Upstate New York, lending a hand to a neighbor in need is just what we do. Ithaca’s Loaves and Fishes ministry does more than provide folks with a hot meal, it offers companionship, connection, and community – something we could all use a little more of right now. Like so many Americans, I’ll never forget watching Artemis II return to Earth and seeing the look on my kids’ faces as that crew splashed down safely. This mission was a proud moment for our country and for Upstate New York. Right here in Norwich, the hardworking men and women at Unison built the ignition technology that helped carry American astronauts farther into space than ever before. Upstate New York builds what America needs and powers what America achieves — and we always will. It was an honor to meet the Artemis II crew today and celebrate the extraordinary role our region played in this historic mission.

I enjoyed visiting Rev: Ithaca Startup Works and learning about the groundbreaking research that students, engineers, and entrepreneurs are conducting – including a NASA-supported aerospace project! While Upstate New Yorkers are forced to pay $4.50 for a gallon of gas, oil companies are raking in record profits. The corporate greed has to stop. With that same grit and resilience that has powered Upstate manufacturing for generations, the hardworking folks at BAE fought for this $65 MILLION investment to stand up new production lines, build a state-of-the-art engineering lab, and create 130 good-paying jobs right here in the Southern Tier. This moment is for every worker and every family who never stopped believing in a Square Deal and it’s proof that our best days still lie ahead.

NYSEG is taking hundreds of millions of dollars out of the pockets of public school teachers, seniors on fixed incomes and families trying to raise their kids - just to line the pockets of corporate executives sitting in a boardroom in Spain. I won’t stop fighting to end the corporate greed, stop the rate hikes, and lower your costs.

Instead of spending billions of dollars on forever wars in the Middle East, we should be spending that money here at home – driving down costs, improving our public schools, and supporting rural hospitals and our first responders. Upstate New Yorkers can’t afford this war and I’m going to keep fighting to end it.

Mike and David at Fieldstone Farm invested in solar and produce more energy than they use - but they're still getting hit with $800+ per month in demand charges from NYSEG. The math doesn't add up. We need to stop sending Upstate wealth to corporate boardrooms in Spain and start looking out for the people actually doing the work right here in Delaware County.
