Every year, the National Association of Letter Carriers collects non-perishable food left at post offices and in mailboxes and delivers them to food banks and shelters. In San Diego, they partnered with the amazing local nonprofit Heaven’s Windows. So glad to join this effort!

Cathedral High School student Nikki is a hero. Last year, her empathy and courage helped save a stranger from taking their own life on the side of a road. I’m so proud of her and honored to recognize her as a CA-51 Outstanding Youth.

Grossmont College Library is currently hosting the “Americans and the Holocaust” traveling exhibit, which examines Americans’ responses to Nazism and war in the 1930s and 40s. Everyone should see it to learn from the past so we can make “never again” a reality.

I met with the San Diego chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), which is made up of more than 70,000 electrical contracting firms employing over 650,0000 electricians nationwide.

Republicans made devastating cuts to SNAP (aka CalFresh) in their Big Ugly Bill – meaning many of our neighbors will go hungry. I met with Alondra, the President and CEO of the San Diego Hunger Coalition, to discuss the impact of these cuts and what we can do.
