Today is my final day representing Virginia’s Seventh District in the U.S. House. Serving as your voice in Congress has been the greatest honor of my life.

As they were celebrating the New Year, dozens of our fellow Americans were killed or injured in a horrific, deliberate attack. My heart is with the victims’ loved ones and the entire New Orleans community. Thank you to the federal & local law enforcement officers on the scene.

🔔 BIG NEWS: @POTUS will sign my bipartisan #SocialSecurityFairnessAct into law in just under one week. On Monday, January 6, millions of Americans — including police officers, firefighters, and federal employees — will no longer be denied the retirement benefits they earned.

Delivering results for the Virginians I serve has been at the heart of everything I have done over the past six years. Because like I told @AdamLongoTV, I first came to Congress in 2019 to govern and be responsive to the needs of my neighbors in the Seventh District.

Since I first arrived in Congress six years ago, I've worked to get things done for the Virginians I serve. A look back —

President Jimmy Carter led a life of service. He donned the U.S. Navy’s uniform, dedicated himself to his home state, ascended to the Oval Office, and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his commitment to global human rights. May his legacy continue to inspire generations.

More than 50,000 police officers, firefighters, federal employees, and other public servants across Virginia will soon — finally — receive the retirement benefits they paid into, but have long been denied. My #SocialSecurityFairnessAct is headed to @POTUS's desk to get it done.

🔔 My team returned more than $12 MILLION in backlogged benefits — like Social Security checks, VA benefits, tax refunds, and more — to Virginians in 2024. I’m proud of how hard our office works to deliver for residents of the Seventh District.

📬 Great news! My bill to rename a Fredericksburg post office after Gladys P. Todd — a revered civil rights leader — passed the U.S. Senate. Once signed into law, this legislation will guarantee that her contributions to her community will be remembered for generations to come.
