Today, we honor and mourn all U.S. military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our nation. Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness demonstrated by the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Yesterday, students from St. Mary’s School in Marathon visited Madison to tour the State Capitol. During their tour, the group had the opportunity to see the Senate and Assembly Chambers, along with the Supreme Court.

Happy National EMS Week! Throughout this week, we recognize and celebrate the lifesaving care provided by our EMTs and paramedics. Thank you to all the dedicated EMS professionals across the 86th AD who serve our communities with compassion and professionalism.

May is National Beef Month! From backyard barbecues to community events, WI’s beef industry plays an important role in bringing communities together while also serving as a significant contributor to our state’s economy.

Yesterday, a great group of students, teachers, and parents from Stratford Elementary School visited the State Capitol today. I had the opportunity to speak with some of the students about my job and how our state government works.

It is National Police Week! I want to thank the dedicated men and women in law enforcement who serve our communities every day. Your commitment, courage, and sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

Fire chiefs from Central WI met with area legislators to talk about the challenges facing our rural fire and EMS providers. Thanks to the McMillan Fire Department for hosting and to all of the fire chiefs who participated in the insightful meeting.

A large group of students and parents from Spencer Elementary School visited Madison today for a tour of the State Capitol. They also had the opportunity to visit the Wisconsin Veterans Museum on the Square during their trip, making for a fun and educational day.

Happy National Correctional Officers Week! I was proud to stand with WI’s correctional officers, county jailors, and deputies by authoring 2025 WI Act 244. Thank you for the critical role you play to keep our communities safe.

It is National Small Business Week! When you spend money at a local business, it stays in the community. I encourage everyone to get out and support our small local businesses.

May is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Month! As a former law enforcement officer, let's remember and honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Also, thank you to current law enforcement officials for their dedication to keeping our communities safe.

This morning, I presented Lia Klumpyan with a Legislative Citation in recognition of her 17 years of service on the Marathon School Board. I join her family and community to thank Lia for her service.

The new WI state law, WI Act 244, sends a powerful message that we stand firmly with our correctional officers, deputies, and jailers. We value and greatly appreciate what they do and the critical role they play in public safety. @CorrectionsOne @SenJesseJames @RepBenFranklin

It was great to have students from Pittsville Elementary School visit Madison today. The group had a chance to tour the Assembly and Senate chambers and learn more about the history of the State Capitol.

I was proud to be selected as a Hero Award recipient by the Wisconsin Bear Hunters’ Association (WBHA) for my work preserving Wisconsin’s hunting tradition.

Next week, the Department of Transportation (DOT) will begin improvements to WIS 29 between WIS 97 and Purple Martin Lane. Construction is scheduled to start on April 6, during which westbound lanes will be crossed over to an eastbound lane, and is expected to be completed by December 2026.
