Today was one of those days where our work at @CPAC wasn't just theoretical. You see, Lisa Moss walked out of an Oklahoma prison after 34 years.
Moss (and her daughter) were brutally abused by her husband. Lisa was charged with murder and conspiracy after her brother killed her abuser.
Working with @GovStitt, his Public Safety Secretary, Tricia Everest, Rep. @jonechols, and countless other legislators and advocates, Oklahoma passed the Survivors Act last year. It allows those who have been abused and incarcerated for crimes related to their abuse to seek re-sentencing. Lisa Moss was the first person to receive a sentence reduction under the legislation. Tonight, she is home.

@nondocmedia To clarify, I was just giving them a hard time. Had I been there, I would have gladly run that bill, and would also have missed the repealer. 🤷🏻♂️

"They said, 'Hey, do you mind if we run one of these with your name on it?' I said, 'No, as long as it doesn't make anybody mad or get me on the front page of the paper.' They assured me it wouldn't, but lo and behold." — @RepStinson | #okleg bit.ly/3LxlI9A
