Eagle Fest in Dover this past weekend was incredible. This event is always so well done and captures the spirit of Dover and Stewart County. I was glad to attend and honored to speak. Thank you, Mayor Fitzhugh, the city of Dover, and everyone involved in making Eagle Fest great! Most importantly, I want to thank the veterans in attendance who are at the heart of this celebration. Your service and sacrifice are the reason we can gather to celebrate our freedom!

With China’s unprecedented military buildup, its continued aggressive actions in the Indo-Pacific, and its escalation against Taiwan and other neighbors, the United States must continue to invest in our military. That’s why I was proud to vote for H.R. 8469, the FY2027 funding bill supporting our servicemembers, veterans, and military families, which passed the House last week. This legislation bolsters U.S. national security by investing in the Indo-Pacific region and the infrastructure needed to support U.S. advanced weapons systems.

I was honored to join the House Homeland Security Committee’s Police Week roundtable. Ensuring DHS personnel and state, local, and private sector partners all have the tools they need to effectively coordinate on counter terrorism efforts is essential. With America250 and the FIFA World Cup approaching, we need to do everything in our power to ensure major events are as secure as possible. Our law enforcement agencies are the best in the world. Giving them the tools they need to adapt to an evolving threat environment is critical for safe and secure communities. We cannot afford to have fragmented communications or information silos. That’s why we must have these conversations. Find out more about @HomelandGOP roundtable here ⤵️ homeland.house.gov/2026/05/14/hou…

EMS professionals don’t just provide care—they bring calm to chaos, strength to the vulnerable, and hope when it’s needed most. Their commitment, courage, and compassion save lives and strengthen communities across our country every single day. To all who serve on the front lines of emergency medical services: thank you for your sacrifice, your resilience, and your unwavering dedication to others. We are grateful for you—not just this week, but every day.

This week, 173 Democrats voted against supporting law enforcement. To every officer who runs toward danger to protect our communities, we support you. We honor those who have lost their lives in service and hold their loved ones in our hearts. @HouseGOP will always #BackTheBlue.

Young Americans deserve the chance to make an informed decision about their future. Too many don’t fully understand the opportunities military service provides—from debt-free education and career training to leadership development and lifelong skills. Service isn’t the only path, but it should always be a visible and respected option. The opportunities afforded to me through my time at West Point and my service have been instrumental in shaping my character, sharpening my leadership, and giving me a sense of purpose that continues to guide my life today. We owe it to the next generation to ensure they know all their choices and the value of serving something bigger than themselves. MacArthur once reminded cadets that “[T]he soldier, above all other men, is required to practice the greatest act of religious training — sacrifice.” That truth remains unchanged. The uniforms may evolve, the threats may shift, but the character required to lead does not. Read more from my op-ed in Stars and Stripes ➡️ stripes.com/opinion/2026-0…

This week, I was proud to cosponsor the Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act. This bill strengthens federal penalties for fraud connected to posting bail for violent criminals. Charitable bail organizations and politically motivated groups shouldn’t be allowed to exploit the system to put violent offenders back on our streets. #NationalPoliceWeek

I was incredibly honored to meet the Artemis II crew at a @housescience reception this week. These brave astronauts: Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, traveled farther from Earth than any humans in history. Their courage and dedication should be applauded, and their example followed!

The “Silenced No More” report on October 7th is a disturbing reminder of what kind of depravity decades of antisemitic indoctrination can produce. The Hamas terrorists who pre-planned unthinkable sexual violence against women and children in Israel were taught for years that Jews are less than human—and on October 7th—they actualized those beliefs. The resulting atrocities were horrendous and demonstrate why we must resist anti-semitism on every level and in every form. wsj.com/opinion/hamas-…

As our nation prepares to host major national and international events, Congress must ensure that DHS is ready to respond to identified threats, coordinate responses, and safeguard the public during these major global gatherings. @repvanepps on his support for @RepMackenzie's bill, the “Special Events Program Alignment Act of 2026”:

America’s leadership in space isn’t guaranteed. It has to be built and maintained through thoughtful policy and decisive action. NASA’s latest initiatives lay out an ambitious path: return to the Moon, establish a sustained presence, strengthen low Earth orbit, and push deeper into space with next-generation technology. The mission is clear. We must lead, explore, and ensure the United States remains at the forefront of space exploration. Read more in @Clarksville_TN here ⤵️ clarksvilleonline.com/2026/04/11/nas…
