This is the same order reportedly given during the Caribbean boat strikes. @SecWar is establishing a pattern of issuing illegal orders. I’ve trained hundreds of soldiers on the law of war — our service members have an obligation to follow that law.

I am proud to recognize Eddie Dean as my Constituent of the Week on the U.S. House Floor.   Eddie was inducted into the inaugural class of Madison County High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame.     From 1967 to 2005, he led the program to three state championships while making a lasting impact on generations of young athletes.    Congratulations, Coach Dean, and thank you for all you do for our young athletes!

On Monday, I welcomed members of Cub Scout Pack 1364 to the U.S. House Floor during votes for a behind-the-scenes look at Congress in action.  It was great to share the legislative process with these impressive young leaders. I hope this experience encourages them to stay engaged and continue serving their communities.

Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales.     They were just 30, 25, and 19 years old. It was a pleasure to welcome students from my office's inaugural Youth Mentorship Program to Capitol Hill.  Over the past several weeks, they gained firsthand experience in public service and learned from public servants and leaders across our community.  I'm proud of all they accomplished and can't wait to see what they do next.

Charles served our country in the U.S. Navy for more than 20 years, deploying overseas six times.  After all he gave in service, he deserves timely, high-quality care. Instead, the Fredericksburg VA Health Care Center failed to have the staff and equipment needed to properly treat him.  That's why I'm leading bipartisan legislation to bring greater transparency and accountability to VA operations. Our veterans deserve better.

Our veterans are waiting up to 100 DAYS for primary care at the Fredericksburg VA Health Care Center. When they answered the call to serve, America promised to be there for them when they came home. Yesterday, I attended a briefing with the Atlantic Council on the outcomes of the recent NATO Summit and the continued effort to support Ukraine.   A strong NATO is essential to deterring authoritarian threats, protecting democracy, and advancing peace and stability around the world.

A 26-year-old father is dead after being wrongfully targeted and shot by ICE agents in Maine during a traffic stop. His 3-year-old daughter — still in her Bluey pajamas — was on the scene. This comes just days after another person was killed by ICE agents in Texas. In both cases, there is no body camera footage. Both victims were unarmed. This needs to stop. We need a full, transparent investigation into both of these events immediately. Congress must hold ICE accountable and reign in this lawlessness.
