Exciting local news today. The new Dry Creek Parkway exit on I-15 between Springville and Spanish Fork is now open. I drove it on my commute home, and it was great. This new East-West corridor will help ease congestion in Springville, Mapleton, and Spanish Fork.

Utah has incredible teachers--today thousands joined together at the Show Up For Teachers conference. I’m grateful for the teachers who have helped me, my children, and our local communities. Thank you Utah’s First Lady Abby Cox for your leadership in convening this annual event.

Bravo, Bravo, Bravo Utah Symphony and Utah Opera for your free community concert in Springville’s Hobble Creek Canyon last night. Thousands in attendance, beautiful music, inspiring setting. What a wonderful celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary. Thank you!

Thank you Springville City for a great week of Art City Days. Soaring over Springville in a hot air balloon seeing the beauty of our area and seeing thousands of friends and neighbors along the parade route reminded me again of the wonderful communities where we live.

Today’s annual Freedom Festival Prayer Breakfast united community members, faith groups, civic leaders to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. Utah Attorney General Derek Brown’s inspiring keynote invited reflection on faith, unity, and the values that strengthen our nation.

I enjoyed being with friends and education experts and leaders at the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools annual conference this week. Teachers, principals, directors, and board members gathered to discuss innovative solutions and engaging ideas to help students succeed.

Today’s 100-year celebration of the Strawberry Valley Project brought together dedicated and hardworking men and women who make it possible for us to have water in South Utah County. It brought irrigation water to more than 45,000 acres in South Utah Valley.

What a privilege to help turn the soil at the groundbreaking for the expansion of Intermountain Health’s Spanish Fork Hospital. Five years after opening, it continues providing exceptional care close to home. The expansion adds 8 ER rooms, 2 operating rooms, and CT scanner room.

Happy Memorial Day. The permanent memorials in Mapleton, Springville and Spanish Fork beautifully capture the meaning of today and our eternal gratitude for our neighbors who came before us, who gave their last true measure of devotion so that we can have freedom today.

This week 1) Legislative interim meetings began to prepare for the 2027 General Session. Public involvement and input is invited. 2) Operational Gigawatt Summit convened energy experts, business leaders, policymakers to discuss affordable, reliable, clean, dispatchable power.

Two incredible elementary schools in one day. Sage Creek Elementary has a talented team of teachers. I loved teaching 5th graders about citizenship. Maple Ridge Elementary gave an epic sendoff for Principal Matis. After 11 years we hate to see her leave but friendships continue.

The annual Crossroads of the World International Trade Summit brought business leaders and policymakers together to discuss supply chains, trade policies and new markets. Utah exported $22.4B in goods in 2025, supporting $9.2B in GDP and 73,369 jobs.

Being at Davis School District’s “Voices of a Nation” was inspirational. Students shared perspectives on 250 years of America. They spoke of the foundational principles in America’s story: courage, sacrifice, resilience, and hope. Today I saw excellence in education.

Communities are strong because of volunteers. Mapleton’s theater held an astounding gala—such talent. Can’t wait for their June show, Cinderella. Today’s Fireman’s Breakfast had pancakes, family fun. The Fire Association supports local philanthropy. Thanks to all who build unity.
