Today is a solemn occasion to honor the lives of those who gave their last full measure of devotion in service to our country. This Memorial Day, I hope you find time to remember and honor the heroes who secured for us the blessings of liberty — blessings won through extraordinary sacrifice and courage.

Getting fair pay for working on a holiday is about dignity. As we gather on Monday to honor those who served and sacrificed for our nation and spend time with family, I’ll also be thinking about the millions of people — including many in Delaware — working through the holiday. They’re missing moments that matter with the people they love to keep our country moving. That’s why the Holiday Pay Act that I introduced this week with @RepCasar would ensure that anyone working on a federal holiday is paid time-and-a-half.

Paid leave is personal — and it's pro-worker, pro-family, and pro-growth. It's why I lead the effort in Delaware and it's why I'm championing it in Congress.

PabloReports: What do you make of Donald Trump doing 3,700 stock trades? McBride: He said in the State of the Union that we should ban congressional stock trading—which we should—but this is a president who has taken corruption to new heights, and this is another example of him using the White House to enrich himself and his family. PabloReports: That’s like one stock trade every nine minutes. Does he have any time to be president? McBride: I would rather him spend more time not making terrible decisions as president, but it’s probably better to have him on the golf course than enriching himself.

Donald Trump sued his own IRS then settled the case and walked away with a lifetime shield from IRS scrutiny and nearly $2 billion in taxpayer dollars for what, exactly? Paydays for Jan 6th rioters and his personal allies. Meanwhile, the rest of America is barely scraping by.

One of the privileges of this job is that I got to know Barney Frank. As one of the first openly gay member of Congress, he bore the indignities of being one of the first with grit and humor and laid the groundwork for being out in public life for so many to follow. Throughout his career, he went on to become one of the most effective members of Congress. Barney's legacy and impact will long endure. My thoughts are with his loved ones today as they navigate the loss of such a foundational giant of the community.

It’s past time for @HouseGOP to do the same. Let’s end this war and bring down costs. Immediately.

I recently hosted a conversation with @USGLC about how Delaware benefits when America leads through diplomacy, partnership, and global engagement. We brought together small business, nonprofit, academic, and community leaders in Wilmington to strategize how we can continue to leverage international investments for Delaware businesses.

Mayor Mike Purzycki was a deeply dedicated public servant who spent years of his life strengthening the City of Wilmington and our state of neighbors. I have known Mike for my entire life. Like so many, I routinely relied on Mike for honest advice and guidance. He wouldn’t always tell you what you wanted to hear, but he’d always do it with his infectious smile. His determined leadership — both confident and compassionate, wise and humble — inspired so many to help him realize his vision of a more vibrant Wilmington. He was a man who excelled at everything he set his mind to — whether it was playing football at the University of Delaware, going pro with the New York Giants, serving as a New Castle County councilman, helping lead Wilmington’s economic revitalization through the Riverfront Development Corporation, or serving as Mayor. One thing was always clear: Mike could do it all, and he did it all with Wilmington in his heart. Mike’s impact will continue to be felt in every neighborhood, from the Eastside to the Highlands to the Riverfront. My prayers are with his wife, Bette, their children, and everyone who knew him. Losing a loved one — especially someone so beloved by so many — is profoundly difficult. May the light of Mike’s life and legacy continue to guide us as we continue to build stronger communities in the city and state he loved.

I enjoyed my visit to Pine Box Studios, a Wilmington-based production studio. They offer resources for film, television, and online media production to support artists right here in Delaware — ensuring Delaware’s creative economy is supported and our arts community continues to thrive.

I am shocked and appalled at the deadly attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. This pattern of cruelty and violence against religious communities in this country is unacceptable and we must never allow ourselves to become numb to such violence. My thoughts are with the family of the three victims of this senseless tragedy and with the entire San Diego community.

Speaking today with some of Delaware’s best and brightest students about what’s at stake for their education and their futures. While Trump and Republicans cut funding for education, nutrition, and health care, I’ll keep fighting for strong investments to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Today is Brown v. Board of Education Day — a day to recognize the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down segregation in schools. Seventy-two years later, we remember the courage of those who fought to overturn “separate but equal,” and recommit ourselves to the work that still remains to create a fairer, more equitable world for everyone. Today is also an opportunity to reflect on the unique role Delaware played in this history. I was proud to recognize the Hockessin Colored School #107C, a former one-room schoolhouse that became one of three locations in Delaware designated as affiliate sites of the Brown v. Board of Education National Historical Park. This schoolhouse tells the story of Delaware’s role in challenging legal segregation and the neighbors who helped make Delaware the first state to end Jim Crow segregation in education. When I visited the site, it was an honor to meet some of the Delawareans who not only lived this history, but who now work to preserve it and share our state’s story with future generations.

My heart breaks for the Mother African Union Church community as they awake to the news of this morning’s fire. Mother African is a staple of Delaware’s Black community, our state’s faith traditions, and the liberation struggle it was founded in more than 210 years ago. The loss of their beautiful house of worship is devastating news for all who gathered there, organized there, prayed there, and made memories there. For centuries, Mother African has, with prayer and persistence, turned every challenge into moments of change. In the face of slavery, it founded August Quarterly and played a central role in the Underground Railroad. In the shadow of Jim Crow, it has pushed for civil rights and voting rights. I know all of us will be there for the Mother African family, led by Rev. Dr. Whitaker, as they chart the path for this faith community to once again turn hardship into hope and pain into progress. Today, we grieve with them. And then, tomorrow and every day after that, let the Amazing Grace of our state fill their hearts with the courage and love necessary to move forward once again.

This Police Week, we honor the officers who put themselves in harm’s way to keep our communities safe—and remember those who paid the ultimate price for their neighbors. In Delaware, we carry the memory of heroes like Matthew T. Snook and Dennis F. Kelly. Supporting law enforcement means ensuring officers have the training, resources, and support they need to do their jobs safely, effectively, and with the trust of the communities they serve.

PabloReports: What do you make of this $1.7 billion slush fund that Trump is proposing from the IRS for January 6th insurrectionists and pardoned fraudsters? McBride: I think the one throughline of this administration is that if you suck up to Trump, you’re above the law, and if you’re an everyday American, he’s going to punish you and cut your healthcare and food assistance.
