I honestly don’t get how any real gamer is looking at the Xbox layoffs and thinking it’s a bad thing. This is a straight-up win for us. The industry got way too bloated; endless studios, massive spending, and too many projects that weren’t connecting with players. It needed a big reset, and that’s exactly what Asha is delivering. No more fluff. Back to focusing on making the games people actually want to play. As a fan, I couldn’t be more excited. Leaner team, sharper focus, and real quality over quantity. I’m playing through the @DOOM series 2016 and I’m on Eternal. I’ve completed Dark Ages. I’m literally an example of a still growing audience. How the actual fuck @asha_shar and @Xbox thought that @idSoftware was a target is beyond me. They’ve been successful on every metric. ✅ Commercial Success ✅ Technical Success ✅ Innovation Success ✅ Artistic Success If ID is a target and I was a developer under Xbox I’d be moving on. Dumbest decision they’ve made to date.

The Demise of id Software and id Tech was greatly exaggerated. As are most things when it comes to discussing XBOX. We have their own statement here as well as a recent Jez Corden article that shines a light on the situation. Its worth noting that the team is now the size they were when they shipped Doom 2016. Possibly the greatest game they've ever made. The team still has a very bright future, and I can’t wait to see what they make next. Like Jez says in his article. “DOOM is eternal, and it will outlive Microsoft's bad decision-making.”

They are not specific to XBOX and represent a small percentage of Microsoft's overall workforce. And the majority of roles impacted were not American roles. • XBOX is the largest employer of American workers in the gaming industry and the largest American gaming company. • And Asha is an American born, raised, and educated CEO, from Wisconsin.
