Sophie D victorious in this week's #genreofthweek and it seems like Crawdads and Rebecca have the #litsoc divided!

Last night at #litsoc (online for Lockdown!) we had mystery as our #genreoftheweek, began our discussion of Rebecca/Crawdads and welcomed several new members. It's so lovely that the Soc continues to flourish, no matter the challenges. It's the high point of Dr R's week!

This week also saw the inaugural meeting of the Literary Society (with @ReptonEnglish's fearless leader Mr Miller) where members discussed Beowulf!

A really successful first #litsoc meeting for the new year - representatives of six houses, some in Furneux, some on Teams. We'll be reading Rebecca and Where the Crawdads Sing and our first #genreoftheweek will be books by authors of colour. A chaotic yet purposeful start!

The brilliant KJC delivering this week's language lecture, focusing on the anthology extract "Explorers or Boys Messing About?". A new initiative for A and O Block this term.

During #BlackHistoryMonth2020 we'd like to share some books by authors of colour. Up first - the spectacular An American Marriage by @TayariJones explores the impact of wrongful conviction on a newly married couple.
