In this Resodyn Acoustic Mixers Mixing Minute, Jake Rowen demonstrates ResonantAcoustic® Mixing (RAM) Technology rapidly performing nanoparticle coating of metal alloys. lnkd.in/gYUdtEiX Oxide Dispersion Strengthened (ODS) #alloys were commonly produced through ball-milling an oxide with an alloy powder. RAM coats more uniformly than ball-milling with a much faster process time and virtually no cleanup. The RAM mixer is gentle on powders and causes no particle size reduction or deformation. @NASAglenn developed a new 3D printed super alloy called GRX-810 #alloy which demonstrates exceptional durability and strength, withstanding temperatures exceeding 2000 degrees F and lasting up to 2500 times longer than traditional alloys and current 3D-printable metal parts. GRX-810 cannot be produced by conventional machining. It is 3D-printed. GRX-810 can be used in space launch systems, heat exchangers in nuclear power plants and other extreme temperature environments, thanks to RAM technology. #NASA adopted RAM technology, which enabled the innovation, because the metal powder is uniformly coated and maintains its spherical shape after processing. Recall from the Top Gun series that the pilot can undergo 9g, or 9 times the force of gravity with some aerobatic maneuvers. This demonstration is performed at 80 times the force of gravity and mixes a 350,000 centipoise viscous paste in 2 minutes. NASA’s new GRX-810 composite material is discussed at the 15:30 minute mark. NASA coats #metalalloy #powders with #nanoparticle #ceramic #oxides to create GRX-810, which has almost double the tensile strength, more than double the ductility, and 10X-2000X better creep rupture life than conventional superalloys and current 3D-printable metal parts.
