@Bighairtoad @lepaul06 If you weren't retarded and could put 2 and 2 together, you would ask yourself why Crusch would opt to travel multiple days to another domain to save a rival candidate when she was already in the midst of gathering people and resources to subjugate the White Whale.
English

@Bighairtoad @lepaul06 They don't let any genocide(?) happen, they just don't want to spend their own time and resources helping a rival candidate, who is a total stranger to them, just for the sake of it when it is said rival candidate's own responsibility to protect themselves and their people.

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock chivalrous knight you're calling Julius? Because at first you were saying he was generically chivalrous because he was actually helping Subaru through sacrifice, but now you're saying he's "generically real world chivalrous"? Or is that just what you meant here by (real world)?
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock pose a duel to someone infinitely weaker than him and beat him to near death whilst bullying and mocking him. A generic (real world) chivalrous knight doesn't sacrifice his reputation to help someone who insulted them.
Am I mistaken or are you flip-flopping between what type of
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock It's funny you say this because ReZero is the epitome of "show don't tell" as a story, it leaves so much to the viewer to work out for themselves which leads to many people missing things, like this example I brought to your attention.
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock Asking to "see" what his punishment was is an example of "tell" in this instance, you're wanting the story to essentially tell you exactly what his punishment was rather than inferring the severity of it from everything else that the story told/showed us.
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock Uh what? Adding near-humans to a spectrum of races categorically is making the spectrum broader. What don't you understand about that?
English

@flowermemoria @ShitpostRock Adding to the broader spectrum means making the spectrum broader, near humans doesn’t add anything when you already have more creative species/races.
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock Julius didn't need to take his beating as far as he did, nor did he need to mock and belittle him as much as he did, which is why it was by definition not chivalrous.
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock That is what happened though, Julius said it was custom to put someone like him to death but to his dismay Subaru was also Emilia's attendant. Clearly killing him straight up as opposed to beating him constantly to near-death were seen very differently as by the knights reactions
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock "perfectly acceptable"? It was supposedly hated by many in the Church? None of it touched on beating a much weaker opponent though either, other than handicaps that were not present. Nowhere did it say that challenging a commoner and near-beating him to death was chivalrous.
English

@flowermemoria @ShitpostRock As shown beating someone weaker than you to near death was perfectly acceptable under the code of Chivalry, honour was a very different concept back then.
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock where, we don't actually see Julius interacting with anyone but Subaru and Felix to a meaningful degree so there's no fitting place for that in the story. Anyway, we still do get Felix questioning him and calling him a fool and Reinhard cursing the duel for having no meaning.
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock So again you're criticising the lack of show don't tell but then need something as direct as actually seeing Julius be punished for what he did otherwise you would miss it? We know he got punished for it, why would we have to actually see it?
I mean the story is directed else-
English

@MannerdDesert7 @ShitpostRock How doesn't it? Near-human is clearly on the spectrum of non-human and humans.
English

@flowermemoria @ShitpostRock Then i should have worded it
“I would not call having slightly different variants of human “adding to a broader spectrum”.
