🆕 Superlek has accepted a catchweight fight against Abdulla Dayakaev after the Russian missed weight by 3.2lbs for their ONE Championship bantamweight Muay Thai clash at The Inner Circle. Dayakaev came in at 148.2lbs at Thursday afternoon’s weigh-ins at Lumpinee Stadium – exactly five pounds heavier than Superlek, who was comfortably under the limit at 143.2lbs. Superlek told media including the Bangkok Post he had no problem taking the fight. The Thai star looked in superb condition on the scales after returning full-time to Yokkao, where he said he has been able to strip away distractions and focus solely on fighting again. “When I was having my own gym, I was focusing on something else too much – on the business and also on other people,” Superlek said. “So I feel like just scaling back and coming back to the old gym will make me stay focused on the fight more.” The two later shared an intense face-off at Lumpinee, with Dayakaev’s miss adding another layer to a fight he had long called for. Dayakaev had told the Bangkok Post on Wednesday there were no issues with his weight or hydration, but the miss now raises questions about his future at bantamweight – especially after his second-round TKO loss to Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon in March. Superlek, meanwhile, said fans may see the “old Superlek” return on Friday. “I will really try to do my best,” he said. “I’m hoping the old Superlek will come back.” More @BangkokPostNews 🔜 (link in comments) #ONEChampionship
