Splitting is a crucial phase in the creation of a melody for music automatons. This performance takes place under a craftsman's watchful eye, for only those highly specialised in the fabrication of music automatons master this unique art.

The Cartel brings a bountiful music repertoire to life with its 3,800 pins, a unique winding mechanism. Enhanced with a chain spring-housing, the Cartel Fusee ensures the constant rotation speed of the cylinder until the running reserve is depleted.

REUGE creations encompass an array of musical movements. One of the most complicated ones being the CARTEL fusée, a 144-Notes musical movement which contains a winding lever to the left of the cylinder which traditionally plays 4 compositions per cylinder.

The first music automatons are produced in Saint-Croix, beginning of the XIXth century. This sector surpasses the watchmaking and lacing industries, quickly raising the towns fame. At the time, the music automaton industry represented 10% of Switzerland’s exports.

One of the essential stages of manufacturing a music automaton is the Drilling & Pinning. A machine drills minuscule holes into a cylinder, followed by steel wire as fine as a needle which is inserted into each hole, before being cut to form a pin.
