First Minister @JohnSwinney visited @StJohnPrincesSt, #Edinburgh, yesterday to see its #WarmWelcomeSpace (part of @WarmWelcome_UK) in action. All welcome on Mondays, 4pm-6pm, for soup, warmth, fellowship and support.

This resonates very strongly. When will people realise the great power that singing together has to transform lives? Aside from the immeasurable value of the art, students are losing something which could well be the thing that makes life worth living. Sad doesn't cover it!

For our first seminar of the semester, on January 23rd, we welcome Rev’d Dr David Bagnall from St John's Episcopal, Edinburgh, to deliver a paper on: “Words Make Worlds: Sexuality, Discourse, and the Production of Knowledge in the Anglican Church of Rwanda”

Astonishing stat: 40% of council houses sold through Right to Buy are now rented by private landlords (up to 70% in some places) at double the cost of council housing. Presumably with many of those renters supported by housing benefit. Utter madness!

@RevRivetti Thanks Mary. Yes, the contradiction is the point: examining language-use and discursive practice causes easy binaries such as conservative/liberal and global north/south to break down. The realities are far more entangled…
