Good morning everyone, happy Sunday. Please, I want to share something personal, and I’m begging that nobody insults me. I’m not in the right mental space to handle harsh words right now. I am a married woman with four children. We used to live in Lagos, but when we could no longer afford the rent, we had to move to Ogun State. We now manage with just three rooms and cover the rest. We adjusted and kept pushing. Then suddenly, my husband fell seriously ill. We spent a lot of money on his treatment. Many people here helped us, both publicly and privately, and I am truly grateful. Now the responsibilities of four children — school fees, feeding, clothing, and other needs — are mostly on me. Both our families are not financially stable enough to help. Sometimes out of frustration I speak harshly to my husband because I feel overwhelmed carrying everything alone. I am tired of constantly begging. If you are still in the University, make sure you find a balance and have fun. Make friends, talk to your course mates, attend your departmental FYB week, go for social events, date someone who genuinely shows that they like you. I tell you, you’ll regret not doing most of these things after graduation. More importantly, take pictures. Pictures of everything and every memory. If you don’t photograph yourself, you’ll forever regret it. You can ask anyone who has graduated. Life after school is really overwhelming and serious, and sometimes the memories and pictures from school are what will keep you going. Also, some of the best friendships are the ones you made in uni. Do it right and be intentional about it.
