I feel compelled to respond with a heavy heart as this is a company that many hands under very difficult conditions, helped establish its foundations and made great successes in the industry and positively influenced the course of the Mobile telecommunications industry in the country for a very long time. It had the widest geographical network coverage after years of careful network planning and engineering, a key competitive advantage and a customer base ranging from the highest net worthy customers to the lowest in the country. It was a pioneer and industry driver! The problems that have largely bedeviled the company emanated from without the company, particularly from the time a fantastically corrupt ICT Minister was appointed in mid-December 2014! Without commenting on the merits or demerits of the mentioned case, suffice to say that the stage was set when exactly 10 years ago, I was set to be suspended without pay as directed by that corrupt ICT Minister on false allegations that he in fact had planted in the @HeraldZimbabwe newspaper on 12 Feb 2016, in a bid to cover up his US$4m Megawatt Energy corruption scandal that I had resisted to make a payment to an entity that hadn’t been authorized in terms of the law and reported the matter to the National Economic Conduct Inspectorate, NECI in the hope that NECI would cause President Mugabe to reign in his errant Minister, without making an unnecessary public stunt over it. Instead of doing that, then NECI Director alerted the Minister, hence the Minister immediately went all out using his attack dogs to fight me. I was only saved by the Almighty’s Miraculous hand! Thanks to some corrupt officials in the anti-corruption body, to this day, that former ICT Minister has not been held to account for his well documented corruption crimes, whose effects have to this day continued to negatively affect some of the entities that fell under his Ministry. I wish the current Board and the Group CEO of my former employer company well as they work to shake off the negative past, clean the company of the malcontents that were parachuted into the company by that corrupt Minister and his cronies and build a success path for that company that had been well founded, until the debut of that corrupt Minister!

#NetOneCommercialBossSuspended State-owned mobile telecoms company, Network Cellular (Pvt) Ltd's Chief Commercial Officer Learnmore Masunda has been suspended without pay on a series of allegations involving misconduct, conflict of interest, regulatory non-compliance and corporate governance breaches bordering on corruption. This comes as Masunda is now scrambling to meet President Emmerson Mnangagwa over his case. Yesterday, he meet Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Martin Rushwaya to discuss the issue. Masunda has been caught in a raging boardroom storm with his bosses over these allegations, including chief executive Raphael Mushanawani. Mushanawani was arrested last October by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission on allegations of US$1.2 million fraud over a SAGE 1000 system upgrade to Sage L200. Masunda was initially placed on forced leave on February 2 to allow for an independent and confidential investigation to be conducted. Following the completion of the investigation, which established full evidence on 10 charges levelled against him, he was formally suspended on Monday, pending the outcome of disciplinary proceedings. The investigation by DT Guard Security, an independent private investigation firm, relied on documentary review, structured interviews, policy and regulatory compliance problems and analysis, and corroboration by various informed sources. Most of the allegations against him were substantiated, hence disciplinary proceedings are going ahead with criminal referrals where applicable, recovery of losses and control remediation; a systematic process of identifying, analysing, and fixing deficiencies or weaknesses NetOne's internal, IT system, or security controls.

The key point being made by @bla_bidza is for us as a nation to not overly be dependent on Low Earth Orbit, LEOs for Internet connectivity whilst neglecting the development of our own fibre infrastructure, which has unlimited bandwidth capacity, which is also required for higher generation mobile communications for the backhaul links in order to provide the end users with the higher speeds that are commensurate with say, 4G, 5G or higher follow-on generation technologies. In fact, progressive Mobile Network Operators, MNO even in this sub-region, are busy ‘fiberizing’ their backhaul links, precisely for the reasons outlined above. BT long had that vision when they sold BT Cellnet early in the new millennium and used the sale proceeds to build an extensive and robust fibre optic network infrastructure and strategically positioned themselves to offer the so-called “Pretty Amazing New Services”, PANS, thus transitioning from the “Plain Old Telephone System”, POTS to PANS, i.e from ‘POTS to PANS’!

High Court Judge Takuva has ruled that President Emmerson Mnangagwa must publish a report into the looting of state land by corrupt land barons, prepared by the Uchena Commission. Former CCC MP Allan Markham sued the presidency in the High Court to force the publication of the commission report. The Uchena Commission Report came out of inquiry into the sale of state land in and around urban areas since 2005. I applaud Markham for this litigation, we must know who has been scamming the state of state land. Chombo played such a pivotal but destructive role in the scamming of state land when he was minister of local government. Chombo was a crook
