I like Kenny Atkinson; he was the first head coach I covered in the NBA (Nets era), but what he did was inexcusable. Kenny had 4 timeouts while up 22 with 7:45 left. The Knicks went on an 18-1 run before he called the first of those four with 3:30 to go, with Jalen Brunson spamming James Harden switch hunting (and getting it successfully over and over). Atkinson lost a use-it-or-lose-it timeout because you can't take more than 2 timeouts into the final 3 minutes. And then, while tied at 101 with *that* MSG crowd and 19 seconds left, pocketed his final 2 timeouts and went into overtime. Your team, off 2 Game 7 series -- now against the best 4Q NBA team -- needs all the rest they can to steal that Game 1.
