@RheumJC @AriellaStudies @ChewChrissie @JYazdanyMD @MilenaGianfran the differences in p values in tables are likely due to confounding. unadjusted there seems to be a difference for smokers and risk of hospitalization, but in the multivariable models the association was explained by other factors such as chronic lung disease #RheumJC

@ChewChrissie Ahh yes I see now! Interesting how a different method of analysis produces a different result. Also, I wonder if "ever smoker" perhaps diluted the "current/recent smoker" variable and lead to a weaker trend... totally just speculation though!

Also, given initial limited testing supplies, only most severe and "classic" cases were tested.
Would be really interesting to see a case series of "asymptomatic" rheum pts. #RheumJC

@jeffsparks @RheumJC @BolekBerqui @zach_wallace_md We’ve started doing systematic antibody testing in our rheum clinic and it’s amazing how many people have antibodies (esp our Latinx population) and were asymptomatic. So I think the registry skews to severe patients.

@RheumJC @jeffsparks @BolekBerqui So interesting that the no oxygen group in the dex trial looked like they did a little worse. Would make sense if steroids worse early in the disease, but helpful in late inflammatory phase. But this still needs to be proven.

For me:
-throughout the pandemic, I've been more aggressive to get people off prednisone than even my usual
- before data, I did try to slightly ween down/spread out DMARDs a bit, esp in pts that were in remission -- I don't feel the need to do this any more

@Ann26217989 @RheumJC We were all probably reluctant to prescribe biologics/JAK’s in March/April because there was so much unknown about #covid19. There still is but this paper helps the conversation. #rheumjc
