@RichBoston@IAmJamesStewart Oh, and telling you objectively, “this is why things are the way they are” isn’t a defense of anything.
That’s what I mean by “I’m not telling you what should or shouldn’t be, I’m telling you what is.” It’s not that hard.
Today I learn a lot about Mitch Keller and the Pirates. Ben Cherington is doing well. He won 3 rings with the Red Sox.
I know it’s a pre season / spring training trend and has been for years but pay your local broadcast teams to do broadcast that connect with your local audience.
@ImLeifErickson@IAmJamesStewart You completely ignored what I wrote. As an example, why did he spend millions on a scoreboard that ‘wasn’t necessary?’ There’s a million examples of things that can’t be qualified in immediate income. Lots of parks have older scoreboards but our owner chose to upgrade. Enough!
@RichBoston@IAmJamesStewart I am trying to explain to you that these people are businessmen. John Henry is a businessman. If he doesn’t want to pay for something he doesn’t have to, he doesn’t. That’s been a popular topic around here since about March 2020 or so. Why do we continue to be shocked by this?
@ImLeifErickson@IAmJamesStewart I don’t mind discussing with someone with an open mind but you are hopeless. Not all expenditures can be quantified in dollars and cents. Why spend $20M on a new scoreboard that “isn’t necessary?” Cuz that’s what you do for good fans that fill the park. That’s what teams do.
@RichBoston@IAmJamesStewart Why would any owner want to spend the money on sending crews and trucks to visiting parks during pre-season if they don’t have to? Not nearly the viewership of games that actually count. You sound like a passionate Red Sox fan, but I don’t think you’re a baseball fan.
@ImLeifErickson@IAmJamesStewart Let me spell it out for YOU. We are a big market team and pay in the top 3 ticket prices in baseball. Other big market teams televise all the games. Yet you compare us to teams like the Nationals that don’t. JH has made billions of $$$ on the Sox. Stop defending and enabling him.
@RichBoston@IAmJamesStewart Let me spell it out for you. “I’m already paying some people for this here, why send more” is the mindset on This Particular Day of Baseball for JH. And no one should be surprised about that.
Again.
Not telling you what should or shouldn’t be. Telling you what is.
@ImLeifErickson@IAmJamesStewart You still don’t get it do you? Does JH own all the other team networks? Of course not. So stop focusing on this one game. BTW, even with the ownership Red Sox fans want news on the Sox - not the Pirates. We’re 4 days from the Sox first game and we hear 3 hours of Pirates news! 🙄
@doncorboni@ImLeifErickson@IAmJamesStewart No, depends on the team. Some small market teams only broadcast 4-6 home games. But Boston is a big market team. Why compare us to small market teams like the Nationals? How about comparing us to the Dodgers or Cubs? They broadcast all but two of their spring training games.
@RichBoston@ImLeifErickson@IAmJamesStewart I think it’s standard practice throughout MLB for spring training. Teams generally don’t send broadcast teams to do road games because viewership doesn’t support it and stars don’t ride the bus to road games
@Dan_Shaughnessy They don’t have to use this practice. Nothing is stopping NESN from using their own broadcast teams for all televised games. It also doesn’t explain why NESN didn’t televise all spring training games like they used to. Surely Henry could afford this as thanks to the fans?
I am told this is industry-practice across MLB these days - allowing teams to televise more spring games. Fair's fair. In this instance, NESN is being neither greedy, nor cheap. My bad.
@ImLeifErickson@IAmJamesStewart Yes, and JH is a cheap SOB which the original post was trying to make clear - not who owns the Pirates network. Clearly he doesn’t own the networks of all the other teams the Red Sox visited in Spring Training.
@ImLeifErickson@IAmJamesStewart I think you’re missing the point. All spring he has used the other team’s telecasts and broadcast teams for road games. That is, when the games are even shown. This is a break from many years of broadcasting all games and using Red Sox broadcasters. Just telling you what is…
@ImLeifErickson@IAmJamesStewart They may be HIS people but they aren’t OUR people! I don’t tune in to hear about the Pittsburgh Pirates. I want to know what the Red Sox are doing! And Henry has no interest in the other teams broadcast networks. What are you making excuse for this cheap arsehole???
@Maryam_049 Why are you posting an old story from 2018 and claiming it as your own? Just repost without erroneously interjecting yourself into the story. 😡
"This Army soldier was on my delayed flight home to Mississippi. He had to watch his baby being born through FaceTime. He was crying, and it broke all of our hearts. Everyone stayed quiet so he could be there for the moment, even from far away.
When we heard the baby cry through his phone, the whole crowd started to cheer for him.“
Let’s honor our soldiers and their sacrifices.
@leafsbobo@BBGreatMoments How does it feel living life as brain dead moron? At least we know who you voted for. 😂 Just to educate you - the post was meant to be interesting, which it was. Not ‘funny’ you moron…
@PaulaGoff16@shonkpa55133 Does someone need to explain this to you? Really? You clicked and watched it to the end. They got paid. That’s what these videos are about. You’re welcome… 😂
@shonkpa55133 Sure, cop happened to have scissors on him & let the guy sit down while he takes forever to open the package. And why would the guy carry it in such a suspicious way to begin with? So fake & lame…
